Better than expected. Very convenient location.
The hotel is right next to a tram stop. Tram 10 goes to the main train station and the airport. Tram 6 can take you from the train station to the hotel. Very quiet late at night. Up a hill from the train station so the trams are nice. We went straight to the airport on the tram which saved money and saved a taxi or trip to the main train station. Room was clean. Breakfast was ok and satisfying. Overall I would definitely go back and recommend it.

Best hotel in Zurich!
Amazing! We love Zurich, we LOVE Comfort Inn Royal Zurich, we've stayed at this hotel 5 times in the last 15 years. They have upgraded all the rooms, the beds are fabulous, clean clean clean!!!! beautiful bathrooms, the breakfast is outstanding, friendly accommodating staff, we would highly recommend it. The location is superb, we love jumping on and off the tram right at the front door, close to the Hauptbanhof, easy to get to the Flughafen, great place!

GOOD LOCATION
it would be great if the hotel can advise guest to take tram no 6 or 10 from the main train station which stop in front of the hotel which less walking distance and climbing the long steep staircase.

Convenient to town centre and to the airport.
The #10 tram runs directly from the airport past the hotel and is less than 7 Swiss Francs--much cheaper than the 60 francs paid (including tip) for a taxi fare when we arrived. The hotel is walking distance to town. The room was small but the bed comfortable.

Looked great on paper
The hotel looked quite good on paper. And we paid $160 for the night -it is a lot but Zurich is insanely expensive with the current overvalued Swiss Franc. Great location (walking distance of most Zurich highlights), large room (for European standards), probably all you can need in the room. We underestimated how important a 24-hour reception is in the Alps, so this is good. Front desk people are quite friendly (a rarity in this area) and do the best they can. 5 min walk from Zurich main train station (which also means 20 min from the airport). But some other aspects failed in critical ways: - the bed gave us no rest, - they had to spend 25 minutes looking for our reservation (and resort to our phone), - the internet was so poor that the connection would fail constantly (we were right on top of the lobby area/wifi router, - so others may experience worse situations ... we did not complain because it was free wifi); - Rooms numbered X11 to X15 may experience difficulties in sleeping at night (the entrance buzzes when a guest comes into the hotel at night... we are quite insensitive to noise and we were quite tired after hiking that day but this was really disruptive); - We jumped into the 18-euro breakfast half an hour before closing (9:30am on a Sunday) and they have literally ran out of everything, with nothing more than some sad fruits, no bread left, and a mini omelette no larger than the diameter of a pepsi can.

Conveneint Hotel With Easy Access Taking Tram
There is tram service from the city/train station directly to the doorstep of the hotel which is very conveneint to go anywhere nearby. Also, the tram no. 10 goes directly to the airport within 35 minutes and there is no need for you to carry the luggage to take the train which is quite a distance and slopy road to the main train station.

Great Service
Great place to stay in Zurich! Walking distance from everything you want to see. Gentleman named George went above and beyond when I had any requests or inquiries. The only thing to be aware of is that if you plan to go out, be prepared to awake to a giant bell that feels like it is just outside your window in the morning. For the price, service, and location you'd be lucky to find something better.

Still looking for the right one in ZRH
The location is ok if you want to be not too far from the station and the room is ok, however, reminds me a bit of a youth hostel. To iron my shirt I was sent into the basement where the sleeves were hanging onto a concrete floor. ... not what I'd expect. Haven't found the right hotel yet in ZRH and am still looking. Would I return? Unlikely.

Great service here!
Staff were most helpful which allowed us to launch into discovering Zurich with the limited time we had. The tram at the door is a very cost effective & convenient way to the airport.

Central and Convenient Location
I selected this hotel based on: price, elevator, A/C, and proximity to Zurich HB (Central Station). Although it's close to the Central Station, it's up a rather steep hill. However, guests can board the #10 tram at Central Station and ride just 2 stops, where it stops right in front of the hotel. Because it stops right in front of the hotel, the #10 tram is a great option for getting to and from the airport. Although it takes longer than the airport train to Central Station, it's much more convenient but still the same price. The hotel is within walking distance of shopping, restaurants and popular attractions, and the proximity to Central Station is convenient for catching trains to other parts of Switzerland.

Good location, and reasonably inexpensive compared to other accommodation. I was tired so needed a good sleep... just a shame the décor was more tired. Hotel could do with some investment to drag it out of the 1970s/1980s.

Bad treatment at Comfort Hotel
We found the plumbing in the bathroom had a terrible smell. When we made management aware of this they shifted us to the only room they had left 205 bottom floor, no bath, no view. The next morning on check out they told us as the room was prepaid we could have no reduction in price. This was clearly not a fair treatment as the room 205 was clean but not the value paid. Not good Comfort Hotel and not honest either!!!!!

OK for an overnight stay.
Hotel was very close to Zurich mail rail station and all the action in central city. We decided to walk from teh station with our bags, fortunately wheelies, but the short climb was challenging. Good job we were fit, having hiking thru the country for 3 weeks.

Comfort Inn Royal Zurich
The staff were very nice and helpful. There is a tram right across the street so you can move around easily. Very close to old town center and the main train station. Room is small for a single but that's Europe. Very clean and comfortable. There is street construction and a little noisy but its only temporary. There is no food in the hotel but restaurants are close so it was not a problem for me. Good value. I will return!

good location. Tram no 10 from the airport stops right in front of hotel saving a 60 SFr cab fair and you can take the tram back to the airport assuming you do not have too many bags and not travelling at the morning rush hour. only 2 stops to Bahnhoff Strasse

The coffee/tea station at the lobby was a nice touch. Professional and accomodating staff. Clean room. Probably the only thing negative is there weren't a lot of restaurants in the area. Also, the walk from Zurich HB to the hotel is uphill, so best to take a tram, especially if u have luggages.

Horrible Hotel on a Steep Hill
Old and ugly hotel. Very small tight depressing rooms. Basic simple bathroom. Tiny TV. Breakfast was OK. Located about a mile away from the center and on a steep hill.

Good location, within walking distance of the central station. Reasonable room, and a better than average breakfast. Plus BBC1 and BBC2 if you want some English TV. And the staff were very helpful too.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, for the most part. One person was not but he was definitely the exception and we just avoided him - the rest of the staff was outstanding. Location is at the very top end of the old city and for the price, was hard to beat. If we wanted to stay in the old town it would have been significantly more and this hotel was an easy 5min walk to the start of the old city. Parking was surprisingly cheap and easy here although the garages are tight. Overall, good hotel, would stay there again.

Solid hotel in a great location
I was in Zurich on business for several days and needed a hotel close to the University. There were quite a few hotels within walking distance, but the Comfort Hotel Royal was a good choice for me because it was already 1/2 way up the hill (the University is on top of a very steep hill overlooking the city), so I could easily walk to the train station (to/from airport 13 CHF ~30 minutes each way), restaurant district, shopping district, or university in under 10 minutes. Now, having walked around and seen the area, I don't think I could have found a better location. As an added bonus, they had a bus stop directly in front of the hotel that ran to the airport (to/from airport 6 CHF ~1hr each way). When searching for lodging, you will find lots of expensive hotels in downtown Zurich. Truthfully, the difference between a $400/night hotel and a $150/night hotel is pretty small. You're basically paying for the lobby and the right to pay for for food and incidentals. The Comfort Hotel Royal had breakfast, internet, and a friendly staff all included in the price. I stayed in a standard room. The room itself was small, but clean. It had a desk, ethernet connection, strong wireless signal, tv, and studio closet. The bathroom had an American tub and shower with a small vanity mirror. Overall a modest room, but perfectly sufficient and fine for a single person or couple to enjoy for a week. The bed was like most other European beds. Namely, a wood frame with mattress pad. (Think IKEA) If you require an American style mattress and box springs, then you should spend the extra $250/night and go to the Hotel Central. I like a firm bed and the dressing was clean and comfortable. I was perfectly happy. If I had to do it over again, I'd gladly stay at this hotel. The location was great. The price was reasonable given the ridiculous price of everything else in Zurich, and the people were friendly.

Most of the rooms can just barely fit a single bed and desk. There is no free/hotel provided WiFi in the rooms - only Swisscom or ethernet, which is very expensive. On the other hand, the breakfast buffet is great.

Though Expedia cost are supposed to be include everything the hotel chareged taxes extra. The airconditioning and minifrige did not work .Coffee was not drinkable

Street Parade!!!!
The rooms are a little small by clean and comfortable. It is a good location and a Tram stop right front. There is no noise from the street below at all. I stay for the street parade and the neighborhood was quiet the entire weekend. I would stay again.
