“Ideal for a short stop in yosemite”
Felt safe as a solo female traveller. Breakfast at 11dollars was good value and got a take out coffee with it Close to Yosemite Room was ample and clean.
“Staff very heplful and friendly”
Good position, clean and comfortable,if you like fast food grill bar was ok, resturant was ok nothing special, pizza from down road was very good and good value. Staff all friendly and helpful, hotel was full and very busy but staff didn't rush you. Would use it again.
“Comfortable and Convenient”
This hotel was comfortable and convenient for Yosemite National Park. Rooms were adequate for a family of four adults. Only downside was there are no coffee making facilities in the rooms but free coffee/tea available in reception area. The hotel looked as if it had a nice outdoor pool but unfortunately it wasn't open when we were there.
“Nice hotel, convenient for Yosemite N.P.”
We stayed 2 nights at this hotel which is conveniently placed for Yosemite. Our room was comfortable and clean. The restaurant and grill on the hotel grounds were OK at at least it did not take a long time to get a table.
“Thought It Was Great”
I thought that this hotel delivered excellent value for money. The room was spacious and clean, there was plenty of parking, the staff were courteous and helpful. Only ate breakfast here, but that was delicious and the menus for other meals looked pretty good. Hotel is maybe 20 mins outside Yosemite and it is an easy drive. I would definitely stay here again.
“wonderful location”
This hotel is only 8 miles from the Yosemite National Park, in wonderful surroundings. Opposite is a garden overlooking the river, set among trees with a backdrop of mountains. Woodpeckers are in abundunce in the trees. The room was large, but cleaning was a little hit and miss. Also proper cups or mugs would have been nice as I don't like polystyrene ones. There is also no computer for public use, but on the whole I would say I would stay there again if in the area.
“Absolutely satisfied our needs for a base from which to explore Yosemite.”
Hotel was clean, well maintained and when we had a query about the shower the service was prompt and efficient. WIFI in the hotel lobby worked well but it would have been nice to have it in our room. Tne food was fine although basic (which is fair enough at the price) and the bar got very crowded and noisy which ruled out a quiet drink in the eveings! However overall it was a very good stay for 4 nights and all of the hotel staff were very helpful. I would be happy to stay there again.
“A little dated but no complaints”
We wanted somewhere close to Yosemite National Park and on paper this fitted the bill. It was however about 30 minutes drive from the national park (but only as the average speed limit was about 25mph) although there is a bus if you don't fancy the drive but with the relevant stops it can take up to an hour. As for Cedar Lodge itself, we found the staff on the front desk to be very friendly and certainly very helpful. The room was a little dated but it was clean, comfortable and more than adequate for us. There are two places to eat onsite - we ate in the restaurant on the first night (there is also a grill) and although the food was nice we preferred to dine in the national park on the other nights. There is also a small shop where you can buy any food supplies you may need (and a larger store in El Portal a couple of miles up the road). Internet access is available, at a cost, in the hotel lobby. We had some issues with the connection so it's worth saving your money and trying to connect at the restaurants/hotels/lounges at the national park. If we were going back to Yosemite National Park I certainly wouldn't rule this out as a place to stay.
“OK as a base for exploring Yosemite”
This is a typical US motel style hotel. The rooms are very dark - always needed the lights on but the air con was effective. Although the furnishings felt well used it seemed reasonably clean and was comfortable. The kitchen was more than adeqaute for cooking a meal. It was about 100F when we visited and there were very few places to sit in the shade but across the road is a beatiful little beach by the river where you can sit under the trees or swim. The adjacent restaurant was mediocre. Nice steaks and vegetables and a good salad bar. Breakfast was not as good - the cooked food didn't look very appetising. It felt like tips were demanded as a hand written note was added to the bill to remind us to pay 15%. We saw one customer arguing with the waitress about this. The staff were not particularly friendly eg the waitress who threw our coffee down on the table both days. However as a base for exxploring Yosemite it was OK.
“Basic stopover but lacking in charm”
We stayed here because all the accommodation within Yosemite itself, except for tents, was booked up, and this was in one of the nearest outposts. So long as you don't spend much time at the lodge then it's adequate. The motel room was large but it was so charmless we really didn't want to spend any more time than we had to there. Its condition was shabby and tired - for instance the bed spreads were grubby to touch and smelled, and the carpet had seen better days. It was noisy in the room due to the thin walls to the sides and above not helped by noisy plumbing. There were not enough parking spaces for the number of rooms and we weren't able to park outside our room, which is usually one of the few advantages of a motel. You had to pay extra for wifi (per day charge) and only had wifi access in the motel lobby. On the positive side they had two very pleasant pools, one inside and one outside, and the restaurant offered decent evening meals. With a bit of TLC and more enthusiastic service it could be quite a nice place to stay, but we felt they probably get away without bothering due to the visitor demand around Yosemite.
