"Wonderful hotel with excellent staff."
Arrived at 10pm and from then on nothing was too much trouble. The extra bedI needed had not been made up but that wasnt a problem it was sorted straight away. Free wifi and the comfiest bed I have slept in. The man on the desk was brilliant, helped us out with lots of local information. The breakfast was excellent too. The only downside was location, as a non driver it is out of the way. Public transport is a 10 minute walk and the taxi from the city centre was £11. The hotel has a firm that they deal with that has slightly cheaper price.

Pocket Guide: North Yorkshire York IHG Hotels

Once enclosed by ancient fortified walls, York offers a wealth of cultural and historical sites, including York Castle, the National Railway Museum, and York Minster, a Gothic cathedral in the city center. The Shambles is a pedestrian-friendly street dating back to mediaeval ages, where it housed butcher shops. Today the scene is less gruesome, with quaint boutiques and tea rooms lining the road.
