Standards have dropped

Posted 26-Mar-2015
Have used this hotel a number of times, and always found it excellent. This time we found a few of the little things which made this a great hotel were lacking. Examples included room had a bad smell, we had to open the windows and let it air. Mini bar was missing the usual chocolates and small bottle of fizz. The breakfast was nowhere near as good as it had been in the past, smaller portions, also burnt.

Good comfortable hotel

Posted 27-Jan-2015
Location: Reasonably quiet location and a pleasant walk into the city centre.
A good quiet comfortable hotel, ten minutes walk from the city centre. Very small car park but adjacent road has unlimited parking. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast and friendly service, the room was comfortable and well equipped. Good value for money.

Lovely hotel

Compact room. Lovely. Spotless. All the facilities you would need plus extras (tassimo coffee machine). Short walk into city centre. Good parking. Lovely choice for breakfast, cooked really well. Would recommend to friends. Would happily book again.

Hotel Noir

Posted 14-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
Stayed for 3 nights in December with boyfriend while visiting friends up the road. Hotel location was great as it was just a few minutes down the road from their flat, about 10-12 minutes from the main city and easy to get to from the station. The staff were very helpful and understanding about us requiring a later check-in than usual due to our travel time. Really liked the style and presentation of all the hotel. Compact room was fine, small as described and the bed and bathroom were also quite small but had everything we needed and quick to warm up on cold evenings. It was quiet and private too. Breakfast service was good but a little expensive for what we paid. All in all though we had a really nice stay and I'd definitely look at staying there again for the next time we visit York!

Hotel Accommodation York

Posted 11-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel Noir was a very trendy old building. a bit of a rabbit warren finding your room but otherwise the room size was of a standard for price paid. Fortunately for us the lock broke on the door and we were upgraded to a beautiful very large room with robes etc. Service and breakfast excellent. Very close for short walk to city.

Christmas shopping trip

Posted 08-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed for 2 nights to visit York for Christmas shopping. The hotel is a nice 15-20 minute walk from the Minister and city centre with a lovely tea room and number of gift shops on the way. The bar and restaurant were relatively basic, but the staff were really attentive and the food and drink choice was fine. The rooms were a little tired, particularly the bathroom, but everything was clean and functional.

Hotel Noir is a great hotel!

I arrived quite late but the receptionist Matthew was very helpful and opened up the carpark and made sure I received all the necessary information! My room was amazing as well, and the four poster bed and complimentary items in the minifridge really made the hotel stand out.
