5 Star Experience

Posted 21-Mar-2015
Pros: It lived up to expectations
Cons: Nothing
Location: Well placed near the Railway Station and within walking distance of many of the attractions of the city
My husband & I enjoyed a two night stay at the Cedar Court Grand Hotel and everything was 5 Star. I used the Spa and had a very relaxing session. We dined both evenings in Hudson's Restaurant and the food was delicious - beautifully presented and served by staff who seemed genuinely interested in the guests. The hotel is conveniently situated near the Railway Station and within walking distance of most of the attractions. We would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone visiting York, who want more than somewhere to sleep.

Stayed at hotel for partners 30th birthday...from the moment we arrived staff couldn't do enough. Amazing service and never left to stand around waiting. Added finishing touches to room for birthday. Even surprises partner with a card and candle in her dessert in the restaurant! Will be staying again...great weekend and would recommend!!

Anniversary

Posted 04-Mar-2015
Hotel Great entrance Really nice reception and good check in experience, my husband mentioned when booking that it was our anniversary and the receptionist even remembered to wish us a happy anniversary nice touch Got to our room a lift on the 3rd floor Grand corridor, the porter started telling us about the hotel. Good history lesson. Porter was good took my coat, hung it up, explained everything in the room, how taps work, mini bar you know what I mean. Then he pulled out a nap and starting telling us all about York. Great guy. Ongoing and an anniversary card left for us from the hotel reception staff. I decided to have a bath to get relaxed. So comfortable that I started falling a sleep. The only thing was a pillow to make my neck and head comfy. The loo room is big space, like being on a thrown. Under floor heating works a treat. For me the only thing missing was a smelly something like a reed diffuser would have done the trick. Bed time, comfortable bed, just the brochure says its like home As we were leaving for a days adventure we mentioned at reception that the shower on/off tap wasn't working. This was fixed on our return. The man left us a little card to say he'd been to fix it. Spa, we had a wonderful body wrap, steam room sauna, swim and also had my nails done One of the showers in the treatment room wasn't working, shame. When I was getting my nails done the man was already there fixing it. To say good bye, check out was a little difficult. The bil

A great, luxurious experience. The most expensive hotel I've spent time in, but then it's also the best hotel experience I've had. Can't fault it.

Visit to York

Posted 26-Feb-2015
Pros: Large and quiet rooms. Polite staff.
Cons: Nothing to improve in my opinion.
Location: A great central location, good for sightseeing, shopping or for using the York railway station.
Yet again, I had a wonderful experience with Cedar Court. The room was large, spotless and quiet, despite of the hotel being located in the city centre. Would come again.

Birthday Celebration

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: The service and helpfulness of the Concierge, porters and reception staff are fantastic. I love the toiletries and the complimentary fruit.
Cons: The mattresses could be improved - Hypnos would be good. If Premier Inn can use them am sure a 5* hotel can.
Location: Very central, just a short walk into town for the Minster, shops, City Tour buses and river trips. Also some lovely restaurants nearby .
We have stayed here on many occasions in the past, but sadly this wasn't the nicest of our visits. Although our room was lovely, clean and a nice view over the city walls, it was opposite the maids station, and despite having a do not disturb sign on the door, from about 7 am it was very noisy with trolleys, bottles clinking, chattering which went on til well past 9am. Also, the beds are very hard, and I prefer a hard mattress, but these were too hard for comfort. Although we stayed for a couple of nights, I didn't mention it to reception as the hotel was full so they couldn't have switched rooms for us and there was always a queue at the reception desk. However, next time , if it happens again, it will definitely be mentioned.
