“never again”

The hotel has no room service, and the level of English available is very poor on the phones. The restaurant is a nice idea....revolves on top floor, but the buffet is not fun or interesting and not very good. Dont even dream about ordering wine.....Chinese wine is horrible stuff. have a beer....safer. The managers are very nice, but the hotel is really not up to snuff. The area is not convenient at all to what western travelers expect and demand. Beds are hard, but not the worst I've slept on in China. Getting a taxi is a bit of a trick as well since they do not pull up in front of the hotel.

“metropark dec 2010”

Most everything was good with this hotel. breakfast buffet good selection internet service wired was fast only isue was that they took a deposit on credit card and could not issue the credit/refund at time of checkout

“great location if you want to visit the Bailuzhou park”

We enjoyed our overnight stay. As we were only in town the one night we went for a walk round the lake. It was cold but we saw lots of interesting things and walked towards the other direction the next morning. We enjoyed the food and the view in the revolving restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. We had a lakeside room on a high floor and the view was amazing. Not sure how good it will be in future if building continues and the glass lift overlooks a building site. Reception staff were friendly and helpful and spoke reasonable English.

Area recommendations

I would recommend Gulangyu if you have more time. This hotel is not within walking distance of the ferry, but taxis are easy to get and inexpensive.

When to go

We were there in mid December and it was a bit cold. We were glad opf our warm jackets, scarves and gloves. I would go again in Spring or autumn.

“Minnan Metropark”

Goed hotel, met behulpzaam personeel. Met name om je goed op weg te helpen met instructies voor de taxi chauffeur, wanneer je geen Mandarijn beheerst.. Bus 30 stopt voor de deur om je voor 1 Yuan naar downtown Xiamen te brengen. Prima ontbijtbuffet in het ronddraaiende restaurant op de 34e verdieping, met een mooi uitzicht over de stad.

Getting around

Neem de bus. Buslijnen wel laten uitleggen door het hotelpersoneel, want alleen Chinese karakters op de bushokjes.

Must see

Nanputuo tempel. Mooie tempel en erg groot.

Outdoors or beach

Golfclub Orient heeft een mooie baan. Wel relatief duur met 900 Yuan, inclusief cart en caddy.
