“Enjoyable pit stop”
We didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the full experience, arriving late and staying overnight and for breakfast, which was excellent. However, the room and bathroom (spacious) were very good. A great venue if you wish to explore the area and enjoy the spectacular view.
“Brilliant breakaway - every need anticipated”
We booked this as a short notice one-night break to celebrate my husband's birthday with a couple of days' walking on the Malvern Hills and a cosy night away. This hotel was fantastic for us from the moment we arrived. It is tucked away in the hills, but well signposted and easily accessible from the main road. We were thrilled to be upgraded to a romantic 4 poster room with glorious views. Every detail had been thoughtfully anticipated, down to the provision of an emergency kit, and directions to find pots of fresh milk to make tea and coffee. Breakfast was tasty, fresh and varied, and gave another opportunity to enjoy the beautiful views from the restaurant. Highlights for us were the romantic, comfortable bed and decor, the stunning views, and accessible walking on the hills from the door (maps and directions kindly provided courtesy of the proprietor). The overall experience made this probably our best night away ever. We will certainly hope to return.
“Great stay!”
We arrived at the hotel and was immediately offered an upgrade. The room I had previously booked had a great view and looked very comfortable, but the 'upgrade' surpassed this. Friendly staff , a great location, comfortable rooms. Just one critisism, the blanket on the bed had a number of dark hairs on it which did not belong to me or my husband, which was a bit off -putting! However, the sheets were spotless. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.
“Lovely for walking”
Very nice hotel.Lovely position if you like walking. Nice little extras and our room was clean and comfortable. Owners obviously went to great trouble to make sure everything was of a very high standard. When you walk into reception there are awards everywhere for their restaurant, but after getting very excited about the food we would receive on our first night (although a little expensive), we found both of our meals were very bland and tasteless. We tried the restaurant again on our second night, and this time our food was tasty and well seasoned. We both felt that any highly awarded restaurant should be consistant, but the two nights food were completely different regarding taste. Also when we arrived for dinner the bar staff were there to attend to our every need, but after the meal we waited for someone to come for 15 minutes before we gave up. The following night we managed to catch someone passing through and managed to have a couple of drinks before we retired. We also personally did not like being in an annex away from the hotel and although this was perfectly documented when we booked our break, I probably would not choose this again, especially as we had to walk in the rain and dark for our meals. Apart from these couple of problems we thought the hotel was very pleasant, the breakfast was excellent and everyone was very helpful and friendly.
“Perfect Place for a Weekend Escape”
Hidden in the hillside the Cottage in the Woods has everything you need for a weekend off - good restaurant, comfortable lounge, friendly staff, excellent food and an extensive wine list. Couple that with direct access to the Malvern Hills and you have a perfect excuse to indulge in a full English breakfast and walk it off in time for dinner ;)
“A Nice Place To Stay”
This a charming hotel, the Staff were all very good & welcoming and the quality of the food in the restaurant was excellent. The hotel and bedrooms/bathrooms were very clean. I had a room in the main building, which was lovely apart from two main minus points: - 1 the brown 'bobbly' blanket on the bed was a complete turn off - does anyone sleep with blankets nowadays? 2 the shower was the type that rests on the taps and as there was not a shower screen, on the bath, this made showering standing up impossible because of the risk of flooding the floor! I left both these comments with the hotel and I would definitely go back if they would invest in duvets and over-head showers. This hotel is definitely worth a visit and the views it commands are breath taking. One of the many extra little touches was an 'emergency' kit containing needles/threads/plasters/emery boards etc.
