Very convenient for conventions

Posted 13-Nov-2014
Pros: The cleanliness, comfort, and friendly staff. Also the convenient location.
Cons: I really can't think of anything....
Location: Walking distance to many comfortable, casual restaurants that were well-priced with excellent food. We even found a little Art Gallery district.
As with all Embassy Suites, the rooms are spacious to the point of being cavernous... kitchen area, comfortable sitting area and bedroom, and a bathroom large enough for a dance marathon. Some, of the furniture in my sitting area was a little tired, but a pleasant maintenance man told me with great pride that lots of furniture upgrades were on the horizon, and mine was one of the next floors slated for the upgrade. The staff was delightful, and not just the staff that you think of as customer-service-oriented. I could not pass a member of the staff in the hall without receiving a personal greeting. This includes maintenance men, valets, housekeepers, kitchen staff...everybody. The experience was topped off by the included breakfast service and evening reception, and not just a simple, cold continental breakfast, but a full hot buffet. I would be delight to stay here again.

Overrated, overpriced, and over neglected

Posted 12-Oct-2014
Pros: The restaurant, while limited, is reasonable good.
Cons: The hotel needs to be updated; the artificial plants cleaned or replaced, and hotel staff empowered to handle complaints/requests.
Location: The arts district and convention center are within walking distance. This is a very attractive location...except for the sirens!
Embassy should be a name that visitors can rely on, but in this case a significant amount of caution should be considered. First, the hotel is in need of updating. From the dusty and artificial plants, to elevators in need of repair to rooms outdated and not particularly clean (broken glass in the carpet!), this hotel is not in good shape. Then, there is the noise level. Not from guests, but from traffic, sirens, and the general populace around the hotel. Sirens in the middle of the night sound as though they are right underneath the room. Housekeeping does not arrive until after 4 in the afternoon, and how many hotels have you been in where toilet tissue and facial tissue are in shortage (we ran out the last day)? The staff, while pleasant, cannot get housekeeping to handle requests (although we saw a maid talking on her cell phone instead of cleaning). While the location is desirable (near the convention center and arts district), the other factors mitigate such things. If you find you must stay there, I strongly advise requesting a room inside the hotel, and not facing outside.

Right Downtown

Comfortable, well located hotel with all the amenities to make your stay complete. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and the Art District. Next to the convention center. Wide range of rooms. Only complaint is that they ran out of regular sugar at breakfast, and I thought that strange.

Comfortable, reasonably priced in the heart of W-S

Posted 10-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
Like all Embassy Suites, this hotel provides comfortable accommodations at a reasonable price, with a great breakfast. The hotel is in the heart of Winston-Salem, so very convenient to anything you might want to visit, and they provide parking at a reasonable cost so that you don't feel that you have to ransom your car. A perfect place to use as your headquarters when visiting the Winston-Salem area.

Works for us

Posted 27-May-2014
Pros: Location, breakfast, cleanliness, valet service excellent
Cons: Front desk staff could be more professional and cleaning crews are not managed well. Our rooms were not cleaned until 4:30 on a busy weekend....
Location: Great restaurants nearby.
This was our 6th stay at this hotel. We like it here.

Downtown Winston-Salem. Near most everything.

Pros: Location. Breakfast. Rooms
Cons: Price too high. Parking should be included.
While hotel was convenient, it was expensive and then we had to pay for parking. Breakfast was free and especially complete and clean. Entire staff was efficient and pleasant.
