Overrated, overpriced, and over neglected

Posted 12-Oct-2014
Pros: The restaurant, while limited, is reasonable good.
Cons: The hotel needs to be updated; the artificial plants cleaned or replaced, and hotel staff empowered to handle complaints/requests.
Location: The arts district and convention center are within walking distance. This is a very attractive location...except for the sirens!
Embassy should be a name that visitors can rely on, but in this case a significant amount of caution should be considered. First, the hotel is in need of updating. From the dusty and artificial plants, to elevators in need of repair to rooms outdated and not particularly clean (broken glass in the carpet!), this hotel is not in good shape. Then, there is the noise level. Not from guests, but from traffic, sirens, and the general populace around the hotel. Sirens in the middle of the night sound as though they are right underneath the room. Housekeeping does not arrive until after 4 in the afternoon, and how many hotels have you been in where toilet tissue and facial tissue are in shortage (we ran out the last day)? The staff, while pleasant, cannot get housekeeping to handle requests (although we saw a maid talking on her cell phone instead of cleaning). While the location is desirable (near the convention center and arts district), the other factors mitigate such things. If you find you must stay there, I strongly advise requesting a room inside the hotel, and not facing outside.

Works for us

Posted 27-May-2014
Pros: Location, breakfast, cleanliness, valet service excellent
Cons: Front desk staff could be more professional and cleaning crews are not managed well. Our rooms were not cleaned until 4:30 on a busy weekend....
Location: Great restaurants nearby.
This was our 6th stay at this hotel. We like it here.

Downtown Winston-Salem. Near most everything.

Pros: Location. Breakfast. Rooms
Cons: Price too high. Parking should be included.
While hotel was convenient, it was expensive and then we had to pay for parking. Breakfast was free and especially complete and clean. Entire staff was efficient and pleasant.

Unfortunately by the time I had checked in after traveling (approx 7PM) all that was left were smoking rooms. I ended up leaving after one night even though I wasn't able to cancel my reservation and receive a refund.

Great downtown location

Pros: Location, ease of access
Cons: Appearance, It looks cold and dated.
Location: N?A
Easy access off the interstate, nice location, fairly easy to find. Smooth check-in, however no recognition of hilton honors membership. Average appearance, rooms, food.

Hotel need serious updating!

Posted 08-Apr-2014
Pros: The only thing positive was that it was available during furniture show. Now, I know why!
With $300/night stay, this hotel should offer better and cleaner facilities. Compared to other Embassy Suites, this one is disappointing. The elevators and rooms clearly have dust balls handing from the ceiling and floors. Excessive finger prints all over...moisture smelling even on a sunny day. For this price, try to find something better.

Great Hotel, Bad area

I loved my stay at the Embassy Suites in Winston-Salem. Everything was on point and very nice. However, the neighborhood was not so good. Not somewhere I would walk around at night alone. Other than that, 2 thumbs up :-)
