“Beautiful hotel in countryside”

Staff and service were excellent, hotel was new and rooms very comfortable. Caters to a lot of business people for training and conferences. Pool and gym looked great but didn't get time to use them.

“Hotel good needs better menu & room service”

Lovely rooms, gym, quiet area, staff very pleasant & helpful. Let down by Menu and food, and lack of room service (unless you want a pizza). Breakfast poor for this class of hotel.

“Would definitely stay there again.”

The Alexandra is a few miles out of Swindon, which was not one of our destinations, but convenient to major motorway M4 and surrounding sights like Stonehenge and the Cotswold area. It is family oriented but my wife and I had a wonderful stay. The only downside was minor. Our room was a long distance from the lobby area and only entrance to the hotel, which is good for security. We were able to get to our parked vehicle from the exits located at each corner of the building. The staff was very friendly. The bar was fine and we actually ordered meals from there a couple of times. The breakfast buffet was good but we never tried the restaurant in the evening.

“Get away from it all”

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away and made full use of the gym and pool. We have visited this area before and chose to eat out on the Friday night, and stay in the hotel on Saturday night. This was a mistake. There was a conference taking place, as well as a private dinner party, which meant 4 couples dining in one corner of a huge restaurant which was otherwise empty, and the staff doing their best to cope by sometimes literally running between the different rooms. The menu for a Saturday night was disappointing to say the least - although the food was very nicely cooked there just wasn't much choice. Other guests who hadn't booked a table in the restaurant were not able to obtain a table - even though it was empty - and had to eat in the bar area. However the staff were really helpful and attentive and we would not hesitate to stay there again, but would make alternative arrangements for Saturday night's dinner.

Buffet breakfast is 5 star quality, but the dinner menu is disappointing through lack of choice.

“Great Hotel!”

I managed to get a Summer Special deal on this hotel. It is a great place to stay, although I didn't eat in the evening, breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice of hot and cold food. Staff were very pleassant and helpful.

“Conveniently located”

This was perfectly situated near family in Swindon, but also a good for visiting nearby attractions. Barbury Castle is literally down the road, with Malborough and Avebury nearby. My only unhappiness was with the double bed which had a typical business users 1 person dent in the middle which meant I was climbing uphill all night. I should have mentioned it, as I'm sure the staff would have tried to do something about it, but there just wasn't time!

“Would certainly recommend this hotel”

The whole experience at the hotel was positive - helpful staff, comfortable room, good leisure facilities, and a very relaxing break which is exactly what we went for. Standard of room facilities was very good, and all in a quiet countryside location.
