Pleasant Stay

Posted 27-Jul-2015
Pros: Location, next to a restaurant and plenty of shopping and restaurants in the area.
Cons: Put small refrigerator and microwave in room.
Location: Delaware Park down the Street. Christiana Mall about 1/2 mile away if that. Excellent shopping and restaurants in the area.
I had a very pleasant stay at the Red Roof Plus. The price was just right, clean rooms and television. The only thing missed were the small refrigerator and microwave in the room. Otherwise no complaints at all.

Not what I would call "Superior"

Posted 15-Jul-2015
Pros: Individual entrances to each room made it easier to get my dog in & out to do his business
Cons: cleanliness, functionality of appliances, the use of air freshener
Location: right next door to a chili's, off of a main highway
I booked the Superior King room -- basically the same as Standard King, but somewhat larger to accommodate a desk/work area, as well as mini fridge & microwave. The room did contain the specific items depicted on the website, however it was gross -- all of the "updated" items were in extremely poor condition. The room reeked of stale cigarette smoke, even though it was supposed to be a "100% smoke free" room. The sink was rusty/leaky, the bathtub floor was black & grimy. All of the light switches were dirty. The refrigerator was "functional", however it was on the highest setting & it was barely cool inside. There were spiderwebs (& a resident spider) underneath the bathroom counter. I almost called down to have my room switched, but then thought since I was only staying one night, why bother. It just wasn't what I was expecting -- for the amount I paid, I thought I would be getting a really nice room to relax in during my road trip, but there was nothing memorable about my stay. It was more tolerable than anything. Maybe it's because I was travelling with my dog, so they just throw those guests in the back of the building, in rooms that aren't as clean therefore less of a risk with a dog staying there. I just thought it would be a nicer room. Had I known, I would've just paid the cheaper price for one of the doubles, instead of what I paid for "upgrading" to a "superior" room.

Delaware Hotel

Posted 07-Jul-2015
Pros: Bed was very comfortable.
Cons: I need the manager (?) or receptionist to explain the upgrade. It was not clear that there were 2 levels of upgrade.
Location: You are close to a mall, plenty of eating options.
It was clean, but the signage regarding leaving your towels on the floor needs to be more visible. The hotel staff probably should've mentioned it. It was comfortable, good location. At night, it was hard to see the signs leading down the dark road to the hotel. The housekeeping was way too diligent to get you out of there. Checkout was at noon, but they knocked at 9AM.

Ok hotel

Posted 06-Jul-2015
I have stayed in a few hotels in Delaware and this one was the best looking one. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable but the beds are full size and it was me my husband and my 7 month old staying and just for my luck they didn't have any portable cribs available so we had to push the beds together to be able to fit. The only reason I'm giving this hotel a 3 stars is due to the bathroom, the bathroom floor was dirty, dirt behind the door looked like they haven't clean that in weeks. Hair behind the bathroom door. The staff was ok but I couldn't get a room upgrade because I booked third party and that was very inconvinient for me.

Biggest issue I had was how terrible the room smelled like smoke. Had to go out & buy an air freshener😞

Housekeeping as bad as you can get

Posted 05-Jun-2015
Pros: No road noise. Nice desk arrangement.
Cons: New fan. Better housekeeping.
Location: Great Tex/Mex restaurant walking distance.
Stayed a week. After 1st day had to go to desk to get soap and shampoo every time - housekeeping never left any. After 4 nights had to go to office to ask about clean sheets (supposedly were to change every 3rd night). Toilet bowl had some of the pink mold you can get with standing water. It remained there for our entire stay. Collection of hair in corner of bathroom that also did not move in a week's time. Bottom of bathtub was very dark grey because non skid surface was not scrubbed hard enough. Fan in bathroom was linked to the light so both went on simultaneously which is OK except fan was the noisiest I have ever encountered and precluded anyone sleeping while it operated.

Univ of Delaware graduation

Posted 03-Jun-2015
I was in town for UD graduation. The hotel is a bit hard to find & off the beaten path. It appeared a bit sketchy at first site. I was traveling with a younger sibling of the UD graduate. I went ahead and checked in, not really knowing what to expect. When we got to our room, I was pleasantly surprised. It has laminate flooring and it was clean. I actually like this flooring instead of carpets, you can tell its clean. The sheets & towels were clean. The bathtub did have paint stains in it for some reason & the bathroom is a bit small but it worked out fine. No breakfast buffet or anything but there are plenty of Wawa's around. It's nothing fancy but it served its purpose for our stay in DE. The refrigerator & microwave were helpful, as we stayed for 5 nights. Hotel staff were friendly.
