Nice enough, but not great

Posted 20-Dec-2014
Room was clean, but the temperature control was out of whack, fluctuating between too hot and too cold. Minimal other amenities. A fine enough stop on the road, but not a destination.

Cheep stay off the 95.

Posted 02-Nov-2014
Pros: Proximity to 95.
Cons: Deep cleaning...
Nice room, surprisingly comfortable king bed for the price, curt desk staff, no surprises.

Good deal for the money

Posted 27-Oct-2014
Pros: Price and Location
Cons: Ice maker on each floor would have been nice, Refrigerator Microwave and Coffee Maker in the room would have been nice, Fix the heat in Room 210.
Location: University Of Delaware is where I was
Pretty much a No Frills type of room. It was exactly as pictured. Room was pretty well clean, No odors, no bugs, no cobwebs. Bed linens were clean and in good shape. No Refrigerator, No Microwave, No Hair Dryer. Had to go to the 3rd floor for Ice and Microwave, I was on the 2nd floor in room 210. TV, phone and WiFi worked great. Some issue with the heat controls in the room, it had to be almost 80 degrees in there. I had to turn it down to 60 degrees to get the heat to turn off. Seemed like the thermostat was at least 10 degrees off calibration. Once I got the place cooled off, the temperature was no problem the rest of the night. Bathroom and Shower was clean and everything worked properly, the towels were clean. Expedia took care of all the paperwork and payment through my charge card, don't get any easier than that. Overall experience to me, was this was the best bang for the buck. Pretty decent place with a price lower than most others around this location. Just No Frills.

Price or quality

Posted 23-Oct-2014
Pricewise it was good choice. However the building itself old and there is a structure problem as a hotel. There is only one window on the wall where there is the door. Because of that the air is not circulated well. As soon as I walked into the room the odor from the room made me disappoined. But I turned AC on for a while to dry up the room and my nose get desensitized. Later it got much better. Since there is no window but one with the entrance which was connected to the hallway. But pricewise it was not too bad. Just one night stay... not two nights.

Bad odor.

Posted 22-Oct-2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Re-design room, remove popcorn walls and ceilings. Very old motel, and smelly rooms need total a total renovation; both inside and outside.
Location: Delaware Park Raceway/Casino...don't go there, very outdated casino with no paybacks.
Hotel room had an odd odor when first opening the door. Smelled like body odor. Had to check out one day early for personal reason, hotel clerk said she could not provide refund because I did not notify them by 12:00 pm (I notified them at 3:45 pm). Was not aware, nor can find written provisions published by Red Roof Inn of their abnormal early check out policy.

Moldy rooms that smell like gym socks.

Posted 01-Oct-2014
Came in for a business trip, had a hard time sleeping with the paper-thin walls and the AC unit that only spat out ultra-moist air. The entire place smelled of old gym socks rather than a room you pay to sleep in. The hotel staff were, however, courteous and spot on.

wifi too weak

Posted 25-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
I look for the "Plus" in the name of a Red Roof Inn, even though they tend to cost a bit more, mostly because the newer interior fittings reflect lots of thought about all the electronic gear many of us bring. Plenty of electrical outlets, strong wifi, etc. But not this one. The wifi was so weak that it was useless. That may have been true only in the rooms at my end of the building, but that's the point -- the signal should be strong everywhere, especially for a Plus. My guess is that it reflects skimping on equipment cost or broadband service, which is inexcusable. Moreover, the row of electrical outlets near the bedside table did not work. Eventually I learned that a master power cable behind the table was unplugged, an area full of dust and cobwebs. Plugging it back in restored the power, but other guests might not think to check that.
