Unacceptable bed and bedding.

Posted 04-Jan-2015
Pros: The desk people were vern nice. They let us extend our stay for a small fee so we could come back after the funeral and change our clothes.
Cons: The mattresses need to be updated. I'd add a door to the dressing area - see above. The bedding needs to be arranged so that it covers the shoulders.
Location: We needed to be near the airport and we saw that our flight crew was there also.
I'm sorry to say that although our room was ok for a one night stay for sudden plans to attend an out of town family funeral, the lack of comfort of the bed was not acceptable. It was like a big saggy pillow and the blanket came up so short, I had to hang my feet over the end of the bed to get the covers to cover my shoulders and I am only 5'4''. When you are in the bed trying to sleep and yanking hard is not enough to pull the covers up without getting out of bed and remaking it, that's not good. And we were sore and achy in the morning from the lack of support. Another family member staying there had the same complaint. The clothes closet is open to the sink area which is ok, but there is no door between the sink area and the room - a pocket door or barn style sliding door would have been nice so one person can sleep while the other is splashing around in the sink.

Two night stay was okay.

Posted 29-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
During our two night stay we had a clean room, although we found a utility knife in the room possibly left by worker since the hotel has been under renovations. Windows are double pane glass. Our room had the outer glass broken in several places. Being on second floor we were not concerned about break-in. Gym area had strong odor. Pool is not heated. Pool had large tarp over head which was dripping water. Motel location is good. Hotel could use a sign higher up in front because hotel from roadside blends in to surrounding businesses being on a busy road.

we love wilmington..hotel very good

Posted 26-Oct-2014
Pros: Clean everything and friendly staff.
Cons: Perhaps a newsletter by the hotel about the current weekly happenings.
Location: Location ok. River walk is a must! Airlee gardens is a must even off season so long as it's warm enough to walk outside. beach. Cotton exchange.
We woke up Thursday an decided to travel to wilmington and wrightsville Friday/Saturday. We were In wilmington about 2 yrs ago and loved. We stayed in an old house walking distance from the river walk but we were with family then. This time it was the two of us. We searched the many hotels and being familiar with a number of chains, we chose the holiday inn, market street. We booked thru Expedia. It turned out to be a bit further out of town then we would have liked (4-5 miles) but it turned out fine. The price of the room included breakfast which is usually good at a holiday inn. We were given coupons for 2 free drinks which we used. The hotel was very clean, the hotel staff were very friendly and we had requested an upper floor room which they gave us. The room was also very clean. Plenty of parking. We recommend it. The only negative was the desk staff could have provided more info about the events for the weekend. There was a triathlon and a festival. There was also a 4th Friday art walk. We had asked about wrightsville beach and they should have told us it was going to be VERY busy because of the triathlon. We found that out in speaking with a shop owner. So we drove to Carolina beach instead. We had a terrific time while there, the weather was amazing, and it an easy direct drive. We also learned that wilmington was voted the best riverfront city in the US. Enjoy!

Just a quick stay

We only stayed one night here. The room was fine except for a very strange layout in the bathroom that made it difficult to get in and out of the shower. The breakfast was pretty good, though the dining area is small and may get crowded at times.

A hotel that fits the bill

Posted 05-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
The hotel had enough parking and was easy to find. The neighborhood was nice and there were plenty of restaurants and gas stations around. The rooms were clean. The staff was nice. It was accessible to the main parts of Wilmington I think one would go to. The only downside was that my phone in the room did not work and I could not order a wake-up call.

It was a good experience. We were there for Family and Alumni Weekend at UNCW. It was close to the university and it was easy to find from the Riverfront from there.

Ok, but not great.

Posted 23-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
Average on the price, but no free breakfast in the morning. Great that I was given a single drink voucher per night, but I'd rather go downtown for drinks and have something at the hotel as far as breakfast is concerned. There was a 'restaurant' type lounge in the lobby, but a basic free breakfast buffet would have been much nicer.
