Cons: Everything was perfect
Location: Over looks the sea, close to White table and Canterbury.
Lovely sunset from the balcony. Great meals. Helpful staff.

Nice hotel close to the beach

Posted 15-Jun-2014
Pros: Great sea views from the hotel.
We enjoyed our stay at the Marine Hotel. Our room was at the top of the hotel in the eaves and was rather dark, it would have benefited from some thoughtful lighting choices which would have improved the ambiance greatly. It was very warm during our stay and our room had the benefit of air conditioning. We had a lovely en suite shower room which was a good size. The room decoration needed some attention as it was looking a bit tired and worn and everything could have done with a good clean. We had several meals at the hotel as well as breakfast and the food was to a good standard. Overall it was a good stay but could have been better.

Good hotel and sea views

Posted 01-Jun-2014
Pros: Spacious, comfortable and generally quiet location.
Cons: Bathroom windows don't open, shower cubicle very small and power shower too powerful!
Location: Location quiet, nice walk along cliff top. Whitstable over rated. If you like oysters ok, if not very busy with tourists.
Very nice refurbishment, comfortable and staff attentive. Excellent food in the restaurant. Comfortable rooms although the top floor was a bit dark. Wedding party not a problem except 1am when stragglers caused too much noise in the street.

Quality character hotel with sea outlook

Posted 28-May-2014
The hotel has been handsomely refurbished and our (superior) room was lovely - very comfortable with a great sea view. It is actually in Tankerton so a ten minute walk into Whistable town centre but in a quiet residential area. The only criticisms we have is that the shower was far too powerful for one that is used in the bath and meant that it wouldn't stay on its holder on the wall and nearly knocked you out of the bath! The staff were a bit of a mixed bag too. The receptionist that checked us in had a slightly aggressive attitude and almost seemed a bit bossy. The waiter at breakfast was very pleasant and made us feel welcome. When we checked out, the receptionist (a different lady) didn't even ask us if we had enjoyed our stay when she had asked the previous couple checking out! Breakfast was good with an adequate buffet selection and fine choice of hot dishes but we and several other guests had to take it in the Orangery rather than in the restaurant due to a lack of free tables. This was rather inconvenient as we had to go back and forth between the restaurant and the Orangery with our buffet items and juices. All in all a pleasing experience but we expected a slightly higher standard of customer service from what we perceived to be a quality hotel and probably the best in town.

Sea view

Posted 18-May-2014
Pros: Everything was good
Cons: There were a lot of stairs to climb and I am 60. Seating for 2. People per room would improve the stay, my husband and I like to sit and read.
Location: We spent a lovely day wandering the harbour eating oysters , shopping lazy coffee stops, all very relaxing
A very relaxing atmosphere , staff on hand at all times , a lovely clean room with sea view, there was a telescope but it didn't work , there was also one chair to relax in, if there had been a two seater settee I would have given an excellent but as only one of us could sit and read this made a difference . The breakfast was excellent with a huge range to choose from, congratulations it made our stay fantastic .

Lovely hotel with sea view

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Worth getting a sea view and balcony . Nice to see a varied choice at breakfast and cooked to order rather than a buffet.

Great place to stay for Whitstable & Herne Bay

Posted 30-Apr-2014
Cons: One tiny critisism is that the bed could have been a tad harder. But that's a personal thing & being very picky...
Having been recently refurbed The Marine is in great condition. The Hotel, Staff & facilities were much better than we expected & the location, on Tankerton Slopes, is ideal for a brisk walk into Whitstable & a slightly brisker walk into Herne Bay along the sea front prom.

Great Hotel and Great Location

Easy to find, very nice hotel room looking over the water. Only criticism is the restaurant has a very fancy/fussy menu and there isnt a lot of other choices nearby.
