Nice balcony room overlooking sea

Posted 13-May-2015
Location: Very good location, and very easy to get a bus. Also nice walk into Whitstable, or along the front to Herne Bay.
We thought the hotel was very good and there was a good choice of food at breakfast. The rooms were clean and fresh looking and we especially liked being able to go out on to the balcony. The only down side for us was the food choice in the restaurant for evening meals. We were a large party, and the menu only offered a very limited selection which no one wanted. There was a bar menu, but unfortunately you could not reserve tables for this. The staff were very helpful and cheerful.

Anniversary break

Posted 30-Apr-2015
Pros: Location, staff,food, room
Cons: Shower curtains that don't stick to you as you are showering
Location: Easy walk along esplanade into town. Tennis courts close by. Pretty Castle grounds. Wheelers (need to book ), Crab & Winkle recommended for dinner.
Parking very convenient on road outside of on forecourt. Very friendly greeting at reception. Fabulous room with sea view and our own balcony. Fresh and clean decoration and very comfy bed. Bath a little narrow and didn't like the way the shower curtain stuck to you but outweighed by generous toiletries. Lively coffee area with friendly helpful staff. Great breakfasts with interesting choices and good cold buffet addition/alternative - come down early to get a window seat. Didn't eat in restaurant but menu looked good and prices were reasonable. Great location just out of town but close to Tankerton shops and walking distance to main town shops and restaurants. Wasn't the cheapest B&B rate but the location, friendly staff, good food and lovely room made it good value and a very enjoyable stay.

Pros: Comfort and character, across the road from the beach
Cons: See my comments above
Location: Near the centre of Whitstable and the harbour
It was our second visit - first time in a superior double room and then in a basic double. The hotel has been refurbished and it is tastefully done with character, linked to the marine theme, high standard modern fitments, great beds, and perfectly clean. Had dinner in the bar area, sitting in comfort in high-backed arm chairs and had a delicious meal. Service was great - efficient, relaxed and friendly. The next morning was disappointing - never got our requested alarm call, the cold buffet Parma-style ham was dry at the edges, my scrambled egg was over cooked and rubbery and the coffee was cold. We did not have time to have replacements. Great pity.

Nice hotel

Posted 11-Feb-2015 on Hotels
Nice hotel, great service. We were in room 3, nice and big, however the furniture was looking a little worn and the heating system was slightly unpredictable. We very much enjoyed the choice on offer at breakfast, and the burger from the bar in the evening was great. Only negative point was that the breakfast bakery products were under cooked and were all quite doughy (bread/croissants/ muffins etc). We enjoyed our stay very much though and would come back again.

Lovely hotel

We had a really lovely stay all the staff were friendly and helpful. There was a function on but it did not interfere in anyway with our stay.
