“outstanding hotel”
Located near a famous historical region, this hotel offers superb lodgings amidst a beautiful setting and breath=taking scenery. The hotel itself is part of an old estate and has beautiful, easily=walked grounds; the rooms are excellent, comfortable, and well-furnished. In another building on this estate and very close by is an excellent restaurant with very fine food. The breakfast option offered at the time of check-in proved most enjoyable, especially if you're a strong fan of big, sumptuous breakfasts. An outstanding hotel that makes for a most enjoyable and unusual stay. Superb value on all counts!
“Feels like a private estate ... lovely well-manicured grounds”
I would recommend this hotel. Very peaceful space.
“Wish we could have stayed longer”
A quick overnight was not enough to fully enjoy this property. It took over an hour to walk the grounds completely, enjoying the beautiful landscaping, quiet nooks, and historic buildings. There is a lot of walking involved, but the front desk staff was very accommodating, assigning us to a room and parking spot near the elevator for my mobility challenged husband. The pools and fitness facilities are above average and the beds quite comfortable. We had a delicious evening meal in The Cellar. Wait staff was wonderful! This hotel is a great place to relax and unwind - very quiet.
“Living it up”
This is a very upscale, unusual old estate with beautiful grounds, elegantly furnished air conditioned rooms, with outdoor pool, indoor jacuzzi and steam room, and sports center. Also the option of the sumptuous buffet breakfast was most welcome.
“not the best not the worst”
Location is excellent for site seeing in Westchester Co. or Travel to NYC but need a car. Could take train from Irvington but would need taxi to and from train station. Hotel was old but clean and quiet. Beautiful grounds. The rooms were extremely complicated to find even after the first day. Impossible for elderly or handicapped travelers. Breakfast buffet was good but have to go early or else they run out of breads and crossiants. Went to visit family in Bronxville. Location was good. Would go back. Overall I would give it a B - or 2 and 1/2 stars.
“Second visit. Even better than last time.”
I love this hotel. What a great spot. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are nicely appointed and maintained. The staff are efficient and friendly. Lovely views of the Hudson in winter. I consider it a great value and recommend it highly.
“Excellent Service”
The experience at the hotel was very good. They allowed us to check in to the room at 11:30 AM which was convenient for us. The hotel is located just 22 miles from NYC so it is just a 45 minute drive with traffic. The only drawback was the expensive per day charge for a buffet breakfast.. I paid the price for the convenience of eating there and not hunting for somewhere to eat, since we were traveling to NYC everyday for sight seeing. There did not seem to be many places to eat locally, but it was just a few minutes drive to White Plains where there are plenty of places to eat.
“Tarrytown”
Nice quick get a way from NYC for a winter weekend. Hotel was on a quiet hilltop and short drive into town where there are a couple of good places to eat .
“Gorgeous Estate”
The hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful. The room service was a bit pricey and not as good as expected for the price. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The area is very nice and the hotel was located conveniently for our needs.
“Wonderfful Winter Weeekend Getaway”
This place is superb ... we've stayed here twice, and it's been magical both times. It's the perfect place for a quiet winter getaway ... a nice break from the city. They have great room rates in the winter, though I think they make up for it with the room service and in-house movie charges!
