The guesthouse is a beautiful building at the top of the hill not far from the captain Cook memorial. It’s set back a few streets which make it lovely and quiet it’s very peaceful, just what we needed after the hustle and bustle of a busy wonderful day. The room we were in was perfect for what we needed, the room had a double and single bed which was suitable for my son. The both of us had a lovely sleep. The room overall was immaculate and the building inside was full of original features giving a homely vibe. I would definitely recommend to anyone. I am just working out when we can rebook to visit Whitby again.

nice traditional guesthouse, clean and comfortable and within an easy walk to all amenities. thoroughly enjoyed or stay. Minor point about the shower having a mind of its own with hot and cold settings but a minor blip.

Although on a busy road it was nice and quite. The room was very clean and once Sally had passed on the keys she told us she was about if needed and then let us "do our own thing".

It was out of the way from all the noise around the harbour. However, everything was in a lovely walking distance. The room was clean, modern and very peaceful. Amazing value for money and myself and my partner would happily stay again.

I went to check in while my husband tried to find a parking space. I entered the building and the place was deserted. I looked around then noticed a sign with phone numbers so thought I'd ring to say I was there but then I saw a woman come out of a room and she just said hello before going upstairs. Puzzled, I looked at the sign on the door she had come out of - it said private so surely, she must have been the host? I waited til she came back downstairs and asked her if she was who I needed to contact you check in. She just looked at me and asked how I got in. I gestured towards the door and said 'through the door'. 'It must have been left on the latch she sighed, what's your name?' She came back with keys and explained it was room 1 on the first floor. I asked for a parking permit and explained that my husband was trying to find a parking spot. She went back in the room and came out with a card and said I didn't need to scratch anything off as she had done it and that it was up until 10am on the day of departure. That was the last I ever saw of her during our stay. On entering the room, my husband and I were greeted by a god awful smell. I'm not sure what it was but it lasted our whole stay. The room was adequate. There was 2 bath sheets but no hand towel. There was tea/ coffee facilities and a small fridge which made that much noise, I had to switch it off during the night. There was a light just outside the door that stayed on all night and shone through the gaps.

Happy stay
Really lovely & clean B&B. Spacious room. Clean bathroom & towels. Late check in was accommodated with no hassle. Close enough to centre to walk but quite hilly which wasn’t an issue for us. Overall really happy with our choice & would defo stay there again.

Break away from bigotry
This place is so quaint and comfy . Where I live in Northumbria I suffer abuse daily and so went to Whitby which is accepting of everyone who visits. Period properly and accepting of LGBT people and great single room

Parking was on street, permit parking. Our room was lovely, only negative was we could only get bbc1 and 2 tv channels. Location of guest house was perfect. We would definitely stay again

The biggest problem was the tv which only got BBC 1-2 and kept freezing. ITV you could see picture but no sound. Shower had no mat or hand rails making it dangerous to get in or out.

It was not far from the beach and a couple of streets with a view of Whitby Abbey. My only annoying thing with my room was the duvet beeing so thick, like an winter duvey for a snow blizzard it was too heavy. The street was quiet, and other guests were quiet too.

Very comfortable and although I often have issues with beds and bedding away from home, I find it very comfy at Esklet. It also feels private, is quiet and the hostess is very pleasant and helpful. Excellent location. Will definitely be back.

Good Value But Don’t Expect WiFi
Comfortable enough place. Able to check-in early which was lovely. A bit cramped for three, but to be expected in an older building like this. It’s a bit away from the river and more reasonably priced because of that. Our biggest complaint was that it’s advertised as having wi-fi. During our three night stay, the wi-fi worked for less than an hour in total.
