Decent for price

Posted 06-Nov-2014
Lady at check in was very helpful at straightening up mistakes made by Expedia. She was very helpful and friendly. Hotel could use some face work but was clean. Pillows sucked! Breakfast bar should be called more of a pre packaged snack.

Over booked

Posted 04-Nov-2014
The hotel was over booked and we had to stay at another hotel. The staff did help us out finding another place to stay. We lost several hours of time that we could have spent sight seeing.

Wont go back

Uncomfortable. Walls are paper thin and other guests can keep you up all night. Wont go back. Actually checked out with nowhere to go when every other hotel was booked up because its so old and uncomfortable.

Old, but not historic

Posted 18-Oct-2014 on Hotels.com
On first arrival the exterior of the hotel looks to be very dated. You can tell that the building is old but not in an antique quaint comfortable way. It is old and tired. When I pulled into the garage it seemed like there was allot of dirt and grime, and the same followed to the elevators. The lobby is just tired and dead, no music or inviting character. The hotel appears to be on it's last leg, and needs some desperate attention. There is a complete lack of organization behind the check in counter and generally looks to be cluttered and unorganized. The restaurant also looks to have all the charisma of a high school cafeteria from 1975, the bar is dead and uninspired, and again no character at all indicative of a "historic" hotel. The first room I was given was the Jacuzzi room, and though there was some potential, the room needed to be completely gutted. It smelled like bug spray and potpourri. The Jacuzzi did not work, and they did make me aware of that before hand, the maintenance staff has their hands full with this place. The second room was decent, clean and comfortable. The staff was trying, but there was clearly some much needed R&R for the entire hotel. No Wi-Fi, and amenities are almost non-existent.

Cold room

Posted 12-Oct-2014
Pros: price and convenience to Wheeling Island.
Cons: Put heat in rooms.
We checked in and room was cold. We called the front desk and they told us that we don't have heat in our rooms. He said to turn off fan and room should heat up. If it doesn't, they will send up extra blankets. Really!!! Good thing we brought our own blankets. It is an old hotel that has been updated but needs more updating. Don't expect a good breakfast. It's prepackaged muffins and coffee. Ok for price.
