“Would stay here again and again”
The hotel was brand new and very clean. The breakfast in the morning was great. The pool and hot tub were very clean and perfect temperature. The group of us that went would continue to come back to the hotel. The staff was very nice upon check-in. The room were beautiful and the beds very comfortable. I would recommend anyone stay here. It was easy to get on and off the highway.
“A good choice in Wausau”
Spent 4 nights at the HIE and found it to be a very nice place. New, clean, friendly service, great beds, what's not to like. My only complaints concern things that were out of the control of the hotel: a large group (in for a hockey tournament) that essentially took over the lobby each night, and too many shrieking kids in the pool area. If you are looking for a good place to stay while skiing at Granite Peak, this is it-- only a 6-7 minute drive.
“Worst Travel Experience/Customer Service Ever”
Room was okay, though there weren't any light-blocking shades, could not fall back asleep after 6 am . My wife and I booked this hotel through Expedia. Bill was paid in full, receipt was slipped under the door with a zero balance. The hotel manager checked us out in the morning and said my credit card that I had supplied for incidentals was denied. I wasn't sure why she charged by Mastercard. Only other card I had was an ATM card, which I stupidly handed her.. In the end, I was billed THREE times for the same hotel room. My ATM card was credited back the same day. It took at least a week to reach the hotel manager for her to reverse my credit card bill. She apologized for Expedia's card being denied which was probably not true. She or one of her employees probably keyed in Expedia's card incorrectly. She was condescending, and to me, seemed to enjoy making me upset and leaving me twist in the wind. I contacted Holiday Inn Express via email and they rerouted me back to the same person whom I received poor customer service from (twice). If I had a problem with one of the hotel employees, would expect to talk with his/her manager. If I had a problem with the manager of a particular hotel, I would expect the corporate office to address my issue. Fairfield Inn is right across the street. My choice would be to stay there. I'm done with Holiday Inn Express.
“Great place to stay”
Hotel is an oasis from home. The large breakfast sitting area, fireplaces, and pools ( even a kiddie pool) made our trip a home away from home. Easy access highway access made it great to get around town. The staff were kind and accommodating and we will definitely stay here again.
“Go Somewhere Else!”
Hotel service is down right horrible. Choose another location, there are many to choose from. Pool area is dirty and unkempt. There are far better places to stay in the Wausau area for less money.
