Very nice property right on the harbor. Room was clean. Staff was good, but service was slow in restaurant. Parking is an issue as there are a limited number of spaces in front of the hotel.

Disappointing stay; poor wifi service, maintenance item that needed attending too and a very dirty floor/rug.

We had a very noisy child a few doors away and the noise travelled across the marbled floors. We are at the hotel and tbh the food was the worst we have experienced on our trip. The room and bed were nice. Nice view over the harbour. The wardrobe was cheaply made and looked like it was about to fall over

When we arrived late and in the rain. We were greeted at reception by a super member of staff who offered us a glass of sherry. The room was fantastic and comfortable. We opted for dinner at the hotel restaurant which was absolutely delicious. In the morning another friendly staff member at reception gave us free tickets to a local museum.

Our stay at the hotel was excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was modern with great facilities. The room was delightful, spacious and modern with a superb bathroom. We had a balcony with lovely views of the ocean. The restaurant was very good and the food was delicious.

The Protea has an excellent restaurant. Breakfast was wonderful, though quite pricey. The staff was very helpful throughout our 3 night stay. A major dislike was the bathroom in our room. They went for style over functionality. Glass walls, no hooks anywhere, a half door for the shower, etc. They put a card in the bathroom to encourage re-use of towels, which I almost always do. But this was just a weak effort to pretend to be eco-friendly since there was no place to dry the towels so as to be able to use them again. So they went onto the floor, along with the clothes we were taking off or putting on. A re-do is really called for but probably can't happen at this point.

The stay was good. We just had one down fall as our booking stated that our room will have a deep soaking bath tub, but we only has a shower and a few other things were listed on the booking that we did not have in our room. Other than that we enjoyed our stay

property looked good on Expedia website. Room was actually much better looking than practical, as there wasn't any room to move once cases were open on the floor. There was an overpowering smell of drains which was reported, but not addressed, and on our entire journey across the country, this was the only place with no access to BBC or Sky news. Restaurant manager didn't know where they had any hand sanitizer which didn't inspire much confidence and we both had gastric issues after eating here. They took £25 off the bill but I would not recommend this hotel as being good Value for money

Gem of a stay
We only stayed one night, but it was a wonderful stay. From the moment we arrived, we were escorted to our two level room. Upstairs a fine living area and downstairs our bedroom and bath. Both with balconies a partial water view. Next door is the Gin School, by Inverroche, a great experience in making your own bottle of custom flavored gin. Afterwards we had a lovely, delicious dinner of ostrich with wine. A fabulous quick overnight stay.

Great hotel for Mossel Bay
Smooth check in, we did pay a little extra for gated parking. Room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Restaurant was decent but not spectacular

Lovely staff and Great hotel
Lovely hotel - staff were amazing and treated us really well. Nice pool to relax and have a drink round and rooms are lovely. Would highly recommend the local braai restaurant for good quality good value meat!

We had a double volume suite overlooking the harbour. Gorgeous room, bathroom and separate lounge and kitchenette upstairs. Very spacious and bright.

All in all it was good, but overpriced comparing to similar hotels in the region, mainly considering that breakfast was not included. We stayed in four different Protea hotels during our vacation and this was the only one with no breakfast! Would not return!

Going downhill?
We have atayed in this hotel several times but the last two times bave been dissappointing. Last time the water cut off while in the shower. They were working on the hotels pipes. This time very noisy with school tour groups slamming doors and running around all night. No conditioner on the showers. Not expected from a Marroitt. No offer of compensation was offerred. We wont be back soon.

Usual big chain hotel
It was a usual big chain hotel. The suite we stayed in did not have a clear view of the waters it was over the roofs and trees. Do note it’s nearer the beach than the bay. No secure parking it’s parking by road side. Convenient to go museum just next door. Take breakfast at cafe just down the door it should be better than hotel.
