Nice boutique hotel on island.

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Cons: Better food options for late night. A hard copy menu would be helpful too.
Location: Good location if you're in Nassau or Suffolk counties.
Really nice treatment from very friendly staff. I like smaller boutique hotels and I truly thought this hotel was perfect. I would stay again. They have parking too not to mention a mini spa with steam, sauna and a pool. It's just nice to know its there in case....

Hidden gem!

Posted 07-Jul-2014
Pros: Location, rates and service.
Cons: Not much in the immediate area. No great restaurants or places of interest. You have to drive fifteen to twenty minutes to find anything interesting
Location: See above.
If you're looking for an upscale hotel in Nassau County, your options are limited. What a wonderful surprise to find the Viana Hotel. Great location to parkways. Reasonable rates and excellent service.

Not Family Friendly

Posted 21-Jun-2014
Pros: It was very clean. Cleaning staff does an excellent job.
Cons: Include breakfast for guests, reposition parking, change door locks, more manager involvement.
Location: In addition to Long Island beaches, etc., it's within train distance to New York City.
Arrival: Although I arrived with Expedia confirmation in hand, the clerk informed me that my reservation was for next month. We were turned away. A call to Expedia confirmed our reservation and the Viana corrected their error. Upon our return to the hotel, there was no apology or explanation, just sign here, take the key and you're all set. Not even directions to the elevator. Room: They really should have saved money and purchased real recliners from the nearby BJ's wholesale because their custom recliner was uncomfortable, difficult to remain reclined, and painful to sleep in since there were three of us and no larger rooms available. Door latches sound like a door closing at Alcatraz and will wake you all night long. They gave us a room within a wedding block so we had noise all weekend long. Amenities: The pool is nothing more than a single person current swim trainer. The weight room is decent with dumbbells, elliptical and treadmill. You might think that paying $1600.00 for a small room would include continental breakfast, however, breakfast is $14.00 per person. Other: Although the front desk stated they'd help us switch rooms they never responded. No material explaining hotel services in the room. Hotel channel may have info, however, our arrival was during a power failure. It took the cable channels about 24 hours to reset. We didn't even know there was a hotel channel until a day later. Window views are boarded up bldgs and small businesses.

Convenient, nice and comfortable

Posted 14-May-2014
Pros: Cleanliness and comfort of the room
Cons: Offer room service
Location: Plenty of restaurants and shopping a short drive.
The hotel was very nice. We stayed 2 nights and the cleanliness of the rooms were beyond expectations. The hotel offered a fill buffet breakfast for small fee. The wide variety of foods available was well worth it. Free Internet and plenty of parking. An awesome choice.

Viana hotel

Posted 13-May-2014 on Hotels.com
Before I write my review I have to say that this is my first time reviewing a hotel even though i have traveled a lot. I felt that I need to share my experience so that other people be aware of the issues. We stayed one night in this hotel so that we are close to the historic sightseeings. We chose this hitel because it wad part of SLH club and we had stayed in other hotels from this club and were very happy euth them. Our room was clean and very simple. Not a big room but enough for 3 people. No view, but that was not that important for us. Our main issue was the staff at reception. This was the first hotel that we have seen that they don't welcome you to the hotel. The receptionists sit next to their computer and checking you in. This is like you are buying a ticket or you are in a travel agency. The staff were not even polite and when we asked about the sightseeing in the area they told we need to figure it ourselves and call !!! The lobby is very very small not like what you see in the pictures. The breakfast was fine. We were happy to see that there is a game room with family games( not arcade), but the games were missing piece or pool table did not have any balls to play. Overall our experience was very bad and we would never return there.

Viana Hotel

Posted 09-May-2014
Pros: It is a "Green" Hotel and is very well appointed.
Location: It is close to the movies, the mall and restaurants.
The hotel is beautiful and is very close to the movies, the mall and my favorite restaurants. It is an upscale hotel and I reserved it for a very reasonable price. I would stay again. And you should join their Stash Rewards Program.

Pet smell

Posted 09-May-2014 on Hotels.com
I booked online, but For some reason, I was given a room for a handicapped person, even though other rooms were available. I immediately smelled an odd smell on opening the door, by far the worst smell in my many hotel stays this year. I sprayed the carpet, tried to crack a window, but the odor remained. The room smelled so bad, I could barely stay in for an hour before calling front desk to change. To their credit, they immediately changed the room to one down the hall. But when I told the manager that it smelled like someone had their dog in the room, he actually asked me if it was me that had a dog! I was pretty upset at all of this, especially since the smell seemed to stay in my nostrils until the next morning.. And even then, while trying to use the washcloth, once it was wet, it had the exact same smell. Apparently, as per manager himself, they allow ppl to bring their pets with them to stay in the rooms. For ppl with dogs, the smell may not bother them, but honestly, the smell alone will keep me from ever coming back here. This problem really needs to be taken care of.
