Underwhelmed

Posted 24-Jul-2015
Pros: The bathroom and shower.
Cons: There is no mirror convenient when using the hair dryer. There is only one bedside cabinet. It was uncomfortably hot in the room as well.
Location: Close to station, and easy walking distance for shops, galleries etc. and Arena.
We booked a club room which is clearly stated as being compact. However, our room was also on the top floor, basically in the attic, with a very small window. A sloping ceiling inside the room effectively prohibited any natural light from entering the room. The breakfast was an extortionate price and so we did not eat at the hotel. Also, like Leeds in general, the hotel parking is expensive and only a few spaces so we parked at a nearby car park which was slightly cheaper. We chose the hotel because it looked as though it would have some character which it does, but we did not feel any welcoming ambience and were not sorry when it was time to leave. On the plus side, the bathroom and shower were very pleasant.

Historic Neighborhood

Posted 15-Jul-2015
Cons: Husband liked the bed, I thought the mattress was too soft
Built in 1861 as a social club, the Quebec has extraordinary brickwork, stained glass, and carved oak panels -- an easy walk from the train station, in an area dedicated to government buildings, and and close to restaurants, pubs, shopping, and historic structures. About a mile from the University of Leeds, it was the perfect place to explore the city. A Nero coffee shop with great coffee and tea nearby.

The most comfortable hotel in Leeds

Posted 13-Jul-2015
This is perhaps the most comfortable historic hotel of smaller size I've ever stayed in, and one to which I return every Summer. The beds are astonishingly comfy and the facilities just lovely. Immediate proximity to the train station and other amenities is a definite plus. And the staircase with stained glass window! Incredible. The building is a valuable witness to local of history, and the staff tremendously accomodating. I will stay at Quebecs every chance I get.

Nice location, pretty rooms, but flawed

Posted 11-Jun-2015
Pros: Rooms were attractively decorated, location nice
Cons: Repairs needed, and get rid of the roaches
Location: great restaurants, shopping
Hotel in a lovely location, near great restaurants and shopping. Shown a room on the first floor, very noisy from lobby and street so we changed to a higher floor. We were paying for a deluxe double. Problems in room included no air conditioning (broken), roaches, stopped up sink. Breakfast (not included) was very limited, worst of our trip around the UK. This hotel was fairly inexpensive, I guess you get what you pay for

Beautiful hotel, incredibly warm and welcoming lobby. The bed was sublime, the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. The location is fantastic.

Very conveniently situated close to the station.

Disappointed that there wasn't any tourist information available, although Caroline was very helpful. Also disappointed with the 'continental' breakfast: helping oneself to cereal with a teaspoon was not very easy, the selection of bakery was very limited - no french bread or brioche - only sweet pastries, and needed to ask for extra jams and butter for three. The bar was pleasant and the bar staff very helpful but the food was very poor: burnt falafel - two were uneatable - and limp rocket in my case. Better not to offer food at all rather than let the place down with poor quality. In recommending this hotel to a friend I would warn them not to eat there!

Good for Leeds

Posted 17-May-2015
Pros: Location, attitude of staff, room comfort and cleanliness
Cons: Breakfast - the buffet limited for the price. A teaspoon to ladle cereals etc into a bowl? Barman's service was excellent but bar meals very poor
Location: Access to rail and buses and to city centre, galleries etc. BUT lack of city map at hotel a problem.
Attractive hotel, warm and well furnished. There are reservations which I have set out below. These represent the opinion of my wife and me.

Very comfortable hotel

I would have liked a room with a bath rather than just a shower.
