“delivered on all counts”
The check in service was efficient. The staff were very helpful. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice (some queues depending on time). We ate in the restaurant both nights of our stay, the food was good and nicely presented, the hostess was superb! Shame there was no coffee available although I understand it was available in the bar. The swimming pool was huge. My only disappointment was the quality of the toiletries....my advice would be to take your own.

Way below the standard I experienced at another hotel in the chain. Great pool though. Friendly service but all a bit cheap for what we paid and for what we expected.

I always stay here because the leisure facilities are so good- I can get a quick early breakfast and there is a lot of good choice on the dinner menu. Never had a problem with cleanliness or service, and stay here on a weekly basis.
“Slipping standards”
We have stayed at theis hotel for a number of years and, unfortunatley, have seen standerds slipping. Once they had excellent bathroom products, superb selection of staff and value for money, good meals in the bar, this is no longer so. It seems that the hotel now caters for the less discerning clubbers at the expense of quality. Shame really as it was an excellent hotel.
“Noise, but hidden benefit!”
This was our second visit to The Village Hotel. Unfortunately, on this occasion we had a standard double as opposed to a delux double. Surprised that there was only one small bar of soap and enough coffee for two cups each, also disappointed that there were no biscuits. The room backed onto the lift shaft and was noisey, similarly a live band was playing on the Saturday night and the the "beat" almost shook the bedroom! The positive came when we went to book out because although we stayed two nights, and should have had a contribution to the evening meal on one night, we were given the allowance for both nights of our stay. Although we pointed out, what we saw as an error, the receptionist said that she would only charge us for what came up on the invoice! Hence we didn't complain about the noise!
“Good deal”
We enjoyed a comfortable night in quite a busy environment, but had a quiet room. Could have done with an extra blanket or similar and had to ask for the T/V remote control (was missing), but no real issue. Enjoyed a smashing breakfast before leaving. Didn't do justice to the facilities - pool sauna etc as we were on the move, but would visit a Village hotel again from what we saw.
