“Could try harder”
Almost everything about this hotel meets expectations fro this price category, and for it's location, having parking is a big plus. What ruined it for me was the restaurant, food may not bother some people but it's important to me and as a former professional in the hotel trade, it makes or breaks a stay for me. The restaurant itself is fairly featureless and lacking atmosphere or ambience, it appeared understaffed and without proper supervision. The breakfast offering is perfectly adequate in terms of range but poorly presented and not of great quality, I'd like to point out to the kitchen staff that the bread rolls they serve are supplied PART BAKED, I'm sure this is written on the box, they are supposed to be put in a hot oven for ten minutes to give them some colour and that 'just baked' feeling, instead they appear anaemic stodgey. Coffe is provided from a machine, so one cup at a time, one morning I took one cup, having finished it I went back for a second, but returned to my table to find the waitress had cleared away my half eaten breakfast! I didn't fare any better in the evening, after waiting an hour for a prok belly main course it arrived flacid and soft skinned having been cooked in far to cool an oven, as indicated by the lack of crackling skin and opaque white rather than translucent fat. For some reason it was served in a giant soup bowl where a plate would have displayed it much better. Brussels sprouts tasted like they had been cooked for the whole hr.
“Convenient location, comfortable and quiet”
Convenient location, comfortable and quiet rooms, breakfast was extra but. Decent
“We had a good stay”
This is not a bad hotel. Staff were friendly / helpful, room was comfortable (we had 1 single bed and 1 double bed, a sofa and small table and it was still roomy). Wifi didn't reach our room, however staff were more than happy to supply us with a cable to use the broadband. Room included an iron with ironing board/Trouser press, kettle with tea/coffee/sugar and cups, hairdryer. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment there. It seems to be popular for hen and stag nights so the receptionist did warn us when we checked in that the Saturday might be noisy and to let them know if we were annoyed by it. We did have some problems and reception quickly sorted it out. I would recommend the Bewleys.
“Don't try the food!!!!”
The hotel was clean and comfortable. But the food!!! I ate in the bar the first evening and have never had such soggy fish and chips. The second night decided to eat in the restaurant - starter lovely but then had to wait for nearly an hours for my main course (it wasn't a busy night!!!) and then had to return my food - cold duck breast and soggy chips. I had work to do and was running out of time so asked for it to be replaced and delivered to my room. The food was delivered after being microwaved!!! The piece of duck I had tried was still on the plate and the chips were even soggier. Don't try the food!!! I have written to the hotel and complained and am waiting for a reply.
“Pretty good all round”
Excellent room and good bar food. A little impersonal all round though, the service in reception and the breakfast bar was anonymous and lacking in that personal touch.
“Don't go near the restaurant”
Don’t go near the restaurant unless you want to spend hours waiting for second-rate food. The service in the restaurant is virtually non-existent. The menu promises much, but delivers little. All in all, a very poor restaurant that should fire all its staff and start again.
“Bewleys Leeds”
Clean hotel with friendly staff. Around 10-15 minutes easy walk to city centre. Chose not to pay £6 overnight parking charge at hotel, parking nearby instead, only to find it cost slightly more. Breakfast looked costly at around £9, but it is buffet style and plentiful. Not worth it if all you want is tea and toast. But if you're hungry, then there's fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, fruit juice, toast and 8 components to a cooked breakfast.
“Great for stag and hen groups - not sure I'd go with my wife”
New, clean, efficient, couretous, cheap (cheaper if paying in advance) - a few words which summed up my experience of a trip to stay in Leeds at Bewleys Hotel. Fairly centrally located - a short walk from train station and to local pubs but not too much around local area. Taxi's a plenty and about a fiver into/out of town. Didn't appreciate the fire alarm at 2am Saturday morning but that's the risk you take staying in a hotel that caters for many single sex groups (i.e. stag and hen dos). Would deffo stay again if in similar group but I wouldn't book to stay with my wife and kids at weekend.
“City Centre Hotel”
Good hotel at a good price.
“Great hotel and perfect location”
This was a really great place to stay and just perfect for town. The receptionist wasn't the most friendly when we were checking in but everyone else we dealt with were lovely. The only other thing I would criticise was the hotel was far too hot. No air conditioning in the rooms and too noisy to open windows at night. Don't get me wrong though, it was a lovely place to stay for the price and I would definately stay there again.
