42 The Calls

Posted 18-Jul-2015
Pros: Central location, individual character.
Cons: General decor now showing it's age. Parking facility or local deal.
Location: Breakfast priced for convenience. Coffee bar next door if time pressured or try 'Graze' if not rushed, Calls Lane, 3 mins walk.
Used several times over the years but now showing it's age. Upon return from supper much confusion over room keys - was informed we were in the wrong (lower grade) room and asked to move. Offered bottle of wine in compensation.

Has seen better days

Posted 14-Jul-2015
The hotel really needs a face lift, carpets shabby and worn, even the towels, which are much easier to replace, had seen better days and were fraying at the edges. Lack of any type of air conditioning on a hot summer night ment we had to open the windows and thus had the pleasure of the shouting hen and stag night parties for most of the night. Whilst the hotel obviously has no control over the behaviour of the people in the street the noise in the night doesn't do anything to add to the experience.

Great location

Posted 13-Jul-2015
Pros: Great location & very friendly, efficient staff.
Cons: The hotel rooms are slightly tired now, still OK though.
Location: City Centre Leeds, plus Brasserie 44 next door.
We stayed on Saturday night. Had pre-lash at Browns then on to San Carlo. Great night!

Pros: European style, so a nice change from the typical American chain.
Cons: A little more breeze would be nice since the window didn't open very far.
Location: beautiful location overlooking the River Aire. Also convenient to the Sainsbury grocery store and a nice selection of restaurants.
Wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. Salvatore was especially lovely.

Good location.

Super location for the city and our evening show. Nice room (deluxe double) but Bed too soft for us though so not a great nights sleep. Furniture a bit tired in room too. Good staff, very helpful and accommodating and nice touches made stay good like glass of wine on arrival etc. would recommend.

Needs sprucing up

Posted 18-May-2015
Pros: Very pleasant receptionist, good location.
Cons: Needs a refurb, carpet and furnishing getting old and shabby. Towels although clean look grubby. Bed perfectly comfy but pillows old and lumpy.
Location: Handy for town. Fantastic little coffee shop 2 doors down. open on Sunday mornings.
Not a bad hotel but could be much better. Urgently needs updating shabby and tired.

Underwhelmed from Watford

Posted 28-Apr-2015 on Hotels
The location of the hotel was great for us, we parked in the Brewery Car Park and just walked accross the Centenary Bridge. The staff were quite indifferent neither welcoming or not, the key had a huge wooden animal attached and it was difficult getting the lock undone due to it being tight in a corner and the great block of wood hanging on the key, which is not what you want after a long journey. I didn't feel the toilet was very clean the seat had marks on it, although the rest of the bathroom was clean but a bit tired looking.. there were no tissues or usual complimentary items you would expect i.e. shower cap etc, although this was supplied on request. After boiling the kettle and making a drink (2 mugs and 1 spoon only provided) I noticed a small notice above the tap stating that the water was not suitable for drinking!! only 1 bottle of water provided, which we had already used I rang reception to ask what we were supposed to use and was told we could have some more bottles of water if we wanted them, but the water wouldn't make us ill if we had boiled the kettle!! The bed was extremely comfortable, the best part of the stay...we didn't eat in the hotel at all, being particulary underwhelmed by the rest of the experience we decided not to risk it....Wouldn't stay again and would not recommend it
