I was going to visit relatives in eastern NC so I stopped in Charleston, WV and then returned the next week. I've stayed in two other hotels in Charleston before and found this to be the best reasonably priced place to stay. Very clean and well kept up. Staff was very courteous and helpful. I enjoyed the convenience of having a restaurant. The omelettes I had were very good.
Only one problem was that there were a bunch of high school cheerleaders on my floor on the first night I stayed there. I had gone to bed 10:45 (I had a long car trip the next day) and these young ladies (as well as their chaperons) were loud, engaging in very loud conversations in the hallway right outside my room. When I stuck my head out and politely asked them to be quiet (very politely) they looked at me like I was a Martian and continued to talk. This went on for almost 40 minutes. Another man down the hall yelled at them from what sounded to me like his room, and then later on went and pounded on two separate doors to get them to simmer down.
I don't blame this on the hotel. It's just the general state of our country where people feel entitled to do whatever they want to do no matter how it might affect somebody else. Again, no fault of the hotel. Perhaps I should have called the front desk but I'm not sure that would have helped.
On my return stay I had a very quiet hall, so I am considering the first event as an aberration. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.
It was situated near the Capital. We could walk every where. We were two blocks away from the river walk which was pretty and great for running. The inn keeper was friendly and did a fantastic job with the food.
Easy access to interstate highways without all the traffic noise. Very comfortable rooms with free WiFi that worked most of the time with my iPhone. Could have upgraded to a fee based WiFi. Great TV. Kitchen also good. Only place I stay in the Kanawha valley.
