“Copthorne Hotel - Gatwick”
The hotel was very beautiful, very reasonable offer for the night. The customer service was excellent. The only negative thing I have to say is that Breakfast is extremly expensive.
“Great Stay”
Travelling alone as an invalid is not much fun but I had a great stay at the hotel. All the staff were friendly and went out of their way to assist in any way they could. Room service was really good and efficient and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. I will definitely go back.
“pottntially a great hotel”
needs a staff re organisation 4 check in staff 1 barman/waiter/cleaner/
“Not the first time”
Having stayed several times at this hotel. I have found that the standards have remained the same. Very good breakfast, and the staff are very friendly and manage to get your requests correct, the first time, not like many other hotels that I could mention. Best if you have a car as public transport is not very good. Stayed in several different rooms, they have all been to a fairly good standard, and all have been clean. Enjoy your stay.
“plenty of character, very helpful staff”
Not a typical chain and is showing its age in places but very spacious and set in lovley grounds, ideal if you need to be near Gatwick
“good quality shame about breakfast”
Good quality room, restaurant and "pub" less impressed with breakfast which was described as continental on our card but the staff tried hard to get us to go elsewhere and sit in a corridor for breakfast. overall very good though apart from this
“Copthorne Hotel Gatwick”
Old hotel bedrooms need updating need new mattresses you can feel the springs the surroundings are lovely however the gardens and pools advertised needs attention. Food and drinks really expensive however we found a pub called the Prince Albert 0.4 mile away on Copthorne Bank food and drink excellent good value for money turn right out the hotel cross over the road walk through the walk way and its a bit further down the road on the right
“Overnight before Gatwick departure”
Actually quite a nice hotel, food good but 'pub' was shut for private function so my choice with pub nearby was blown. The hotel is on it's own and to go anywhere else you need to drive, only a mile to Crawley. Free overnight parking as well which I didn't expect. Room was a very good size with table and chairs so was the usual squeeze. Edges a bit knocked off but was clean and tidy and did the job.
“Definitely not 4* - poor service and rooms in need of an upgrade”
I stayed at the hotel for 1 night prior to my flight, using a park and fly deal, and 1 night upon my return. My first room was freezing cold despite my turning up the 'heating' to full. The room décor was clearly in need of a revamp and upgrading and the toilet would not flush properly. I was told the shuttle bus to the airport left hourly at 10 mins past the hour. Despite being at the stop on time, no bus arrived & I had to get a taxi as I was unable to wait for the next one. The duty manager was quite brash and unhelpful initially and tried to imply that the bus had been on time and I had not. Upon my return I requested a change of room as the first room I was given had an odd smell. In the next room I was given one of the plug sockets did not work. Again the room was in need up an upgrade and the sink in the bathroom had cracks in it. When I tried to collect my car the next morning, the staff did not know whether it had been moved or not, though they eventually discovered that it had and brought it to reception for me. Although I got quite a good deal online for the park and fly, I wish I had paid a little extra and had a more enjoyable experience elsewhere with a higher standard of room quality and service.
“What a sham!!!”
I have fond memories of the Copthorne from 10 years ago. The hotel has not moved on at all. The room I was allocated was very small and very tired. The bathroom had been renovated but very small. There was only one small bar of soap and one bottle each of shampoo and conditioner for the four days I stayed. The resturant was busy but the service was not at all good and the quality of food was not worth the money paid. I made a 17 minute call to a mobile phone and was charged over GBP50.00. When I queried this charge they told me that there was nothing they would do about it. I had a car and got charged GBP5.00 per day for parking. I mentioned that I was not leaving my car and flying out but they shrugged their shoulders and said that they were the cheapest in the area. This was a terrible experience and would, sadly never stay at this hotel again. I stayed at the Hilton right at Gatwick, in May, and that was a far better experience. I thought I would try the Copthorne again as I was staying for 4 days and thought it would be easier with a car. I am aware that times are tough and they have to squeeze every last penny from their customers, however this hopefully will turn people away from the hotel and will come back to haunt them. They have just gotten too greedy.
