“Very shabby. Needs a lot of work doing and it smells musty.”
* exterior of hotel pleasing and with lots of car parking. space. * The hotel staff were also helpful and pleasant. * Interior paintwork is very shabby * All the furniture is scratched and dated. * The bedrooms decor looks as if it is still in the 1980's * The windows are single glazed so rooms are draughty and you can hear the noise from the function room opposite. * The bathroom was a disgrace. Black mould on the tiling by bath. Wooden Bath panels loose. The tiling, panels and sink surrounds didnt match. * The meal in the function room was appalling. No flavour and luke warm. This hotel needs a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to the standard it deserves of its surroundings.
“OK”
The heating in my initial room did not work and neither did the Wifi; I was promised that someone was going to sort it out. After an hour I went to the reception and got the duty manager who immediately took me to another room which was fine and comfortable. The interior is a bit tired but they are currently busy recarpeting etc so this should be addressed soon. Would happily go back.
“Once of the best near Gatwick”
Nice location, very pleasant staff. Overall, I would say good value for money.
“was very impressed... would like to visit again”
the hotel was lovely... definitely did not expect that... just experienced 2 problems... room was too hot... but easily solved by opening balcony door & tv did not work but didnt spend much time in the room
“efficient staff”
We found the reception and checking in very efficient. The room we had needed to be spruced up. It was in need of new paint and carpets. The elevator was quite dirty. The shuttle bus was on time and very handy.
“comfortable bed, good price,”
My husband and I found the hotel comfortable, the furnature was a bit dated and there was no air conditioning; which was advertised on the site. The main restaurant was pleasant, but over priced and not much selection. the pub menu was better. My uncle had alot of trouble trying to get through on the phone and he was only an hour away. Staff were very pleasent and helpful. The tv was also very limited in channel selection, also it seemed to be very warm in the hotel --needs air conditioning and upgrading on the television.
“Not impressed”
Hotel needs updating, no dressing gowns, television or on demand films as stated. Internet did not work. Manager and reception staff was unhelpful. Breakfast ran out of food, had to wait for food to be cook and when the beans turned up they was cold and poor selection. The only point about this hotel was the bed.
“not impressed”
NOT Impressed hotel needs refurbishment lots of chipped paintwork & torn wallpaper , armchair in room had large stain in middle of seat, toilet flushing system was loose & very difficult to use.On stepping out of the bath the floor level was a good 4ins. lower than bath level & was in my oppinion very dangerous.
“A resort - not for business”
A good place to stay for fun, nice place, quite, small golf course and good place. It is far away takes 30 min to go to the airport and is expensive. Room is big compared to most london hotels but does not have modern facilities. No internet in the room, internet connection over all is bad and expensive. Room is clean but carpet and layout is old and dull. It says its a four start hotel, but really it is like 3 starts. No good food either.
“Grand old lady!”
Although this hotel is somewhat remote, it is compensated for by the hotel shuttle. This must have been a magnificent property in its time, but that was some time ago! These marvellous old buildings need so much investment to compete with the newer brand, that it is impossible to do with such low daily rates! For the money, this was an ideal stopover before flying out the next morning. The staff were far more accomodating than I have grown accustomed to in far more expensive hotels in recent visits! With a pub in the basement, what more does one really need?! All in all, the hotel exceeded my expectations, and I would recommend it.
