We had a charming welcome on our return to this hotel which we last visited about eight years ago. The reception and other staff were friendly, efficient and very well trained. Our room was comfortable and well equipped with a splendid Macintosh TV/computer and a lovely view over the gardens. The en-suite was spacious and all was spotless and excellently maintained. There is a well stocked 'honesty' bar and at dinner we enjoyed an excellent choice from an a la carte menu; our meals were expertly prepared and very pleasantly served. The wine list was put together by an enthusiast and offers a good choice of well chosen, fairly priced, bottles. During dinner our bedroom curtains were drawn and the bed turned down for us. Altogether a delightful place to stay.

The receptionist was very kind and accommodating, allowing us to check in early to change for a wedding. Breakfast was enormous and sustained us for a 7 mile walk on the Downs! The bed was showing its age but was fine for a one night stop.

Unbelievably beautiful, wonderful stuff, stunning room. I was upgraded to a special room with 4 poster bed. I had a secret room which let me on the wall of the castle.
Dinner to dream about. I have eaten in a lot Michelin stars restaurants - this one is better. Dream to come back!
Beautiful village next to the hotel.
Recommended to all if you can afford it.

Huge room for the 4 or us. The pull-out sofa was not so comfortable for the children. There was a mix-up on the bill as we were invoiced for food and drinks we didn't have. However, the hotel staff were very good about reversing the charges and gave us the internet for free. Wifi was expensive (although it was eventually reversed as mentioned earlier). Most hotels have complimentary Wifi and is becoming the norm, so to have to pay for Wifi was somewhat disappointing. The room was beautiful in appearance and the property is both beautiful and unique.
