“Very large room with kitchen - convenient to Georgetown”
Older hotel but well-kept and clean. Surprisingly large room. Heating/Air controls a bit limited, but otherwise a pleasant stay.
“Frequent DC Traveller”
I read the reviews of this hotel before booking and they're not totally wrong, but it misses the mark for me. The room, while clean, was really worn. I had to try multiple outlets before I could find one that worked to charge my computer/cell phone, etc. The headboard of the bed was peeling in several places. I have to confess tha tI was kind of grossed out and it made it hard for me to sleep. The location is beautiful--beautiful block and walking distance to Georgetown, but I don't think I'll be staying here again.
“Quiet in the city”
Great for families
“it was fine”
the hotel is sarting to show wear
“Great location”
The River Inn was a great hotel in a superb location. We loved that we could walk everywhere - from just around the corner to Georgetown to the Arlington National Cemetery. The room was a great size and it was good to have the kitchenette. There is a Wholefoods just around the corner at the Foggy Bottom Metro and we could get everything that we needed. Would thoroughly recommend.
“Ideal Place to Stay in Foggy Bottom”
Our stay at the River Inn started off great....check-in was not until 3:00 PM, but we arrived early at 1:30 PM. They did not question our early arrival, but quickly and efficiently checked us in. Our original room assignment was on the first floor, however when we discovered that we were facing the A/C units and a plastic owl, we immediately requested a room on a higher floor. Our requst was pleasantly granted. Our fifth floor room looked out over the beautiful neighborhood lined with Federal style townhomes...no river view to be found. The room was very clean and comfortable, complete with a kitchenette which included a full size refrigerator and natural gas stove top! Coffee beans provided for fresh ground coffee was some of the best we have ever had. The hotel is in a perfect location...just 2-1/2 blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro stop at GW University and 3 blcoks from PA Ave. Great restaurants and bars on PA Ave as well as a Trader Joe's market which offered some of the BEST take out food including soups, salads and entrees - all easily stored and reheated in our hotel room kitchenette! Will definitely stay again at the River Inn.
“Great hotel tucked away in a residential area in downdown DC”
Location was great and we were quite pleased with the restaurant. Having a complete kitchen was a surprise and will definitely take advantage of it the next time we are in DC.
“Great Foggy Bottom Hotel”
Very nice hotel - helpful and friendly staff, good restaurant, close to the metro, nice room w/small kitchen - highly recommended.
“My Home Away From Home”
When in DC, I always try to stay at the River Inn. The staff is attentive and well versed in how to run an excellent small hotel. The restaurant has a great menu and friendly staff, and the location is a short walk from the Metro and an easy walk to Georgetown. What's not to like?!
“Loved the River Inn...”
Nice place for a short or long stay. Older and "lived in" but a good deal for the price if you want a small suite. Great if you need to be near GWU or the Kennedy Center.
