“Nice hotel for great price”
Very nice hotel. Carpets could have been a bit cleaner and some chipping paint on the walls, but the lobby and sitting area are very welcoming and friendly staff. Great location. Great price. Friendly staff. Be careful of the breakfast as it is not clearly marked that the few items they have available are $16.00/person. Definitely overpriced. We thought it was complimentary until we got the bill! Otherwise would recommend and stay there again.
“Pretty good”
The Normandy was pretty good. The room was comfortable for sleeping but was not comfortable for hanging out in. There was only one chair and three of us staying in the room. There was no place to sit and work. The bathroom was very nice to look at but the shower door would leak on the floor when you opened it after showering. The lobby was fantastic. Lots of places to sit and relax and there were candies, apples, sometimes cookies available as well as tea/coffee/hotchocolate machine. Overall it was a good stay. Parking is overpriced and street parking is available but you have to be careful because there are hour restrictions on the streets.
“Small but clean”
found it to be pretty cheap. not too much room inside. generally satisfied at that price.
“Great for Dupont and Woodley Park access”
Very courteous and welcoming staff - and great common area too. Room seemed recently renovated and everything was high quality
“Don't waste your money!”
This place is a waste of time and money. I'lll never stay here again nor would I recommend it anyone. The staff are very disorganized. No one seems to know what's going on or even to care to help. One person at the front desk even gave me a key to another guests room when I checked in! The hotel itself looks nice but there are several things to be aware of. First, it is a really OLD building. They just jazzed it up with the fixtures, etc. to make it look new but it is still really old and musty. Second, the heating/cooling system does not work properly. It was so hot in my room that I asked to be moved to another room--only to be given a room with a heating/cooling system that did not work. It was so hot that I had keep my window open the entire time which did little to help with the heat since the window only opened 3 inches. Third, the breakfast is a JOKE! DO NOT waste your money!! You can get better and more affordable breakfast food elsewhere! Finally, when you ask for something do not expect to receive it. I had to call several times to get a light bulb for the desk light, and waited over 4 hours for a wash cloth and towel! In sum, there are much better places to stay in the Dupont Circle area of D.C. The only plus about this hotel is that it was close to the hotel that was hosting the conference that I attended. Other than that, the Normandy was a huge disappointment!
“It's okay hotel”
The hotel room was extremely hot and was unable to control the thermostrat of your room. The wall paper was extremely overhelming for your eyes.
“Really friendly hotel”
Really friendly hotel with excellent service - space at premium so rooms not big but OK - no dining in evening but there is a complimentary glass of wine with snack in early evening with great atmosphere
“Will return”
Superb hotel with a "home like" atmosphere at much lest cost than the Hilton nearby.
“Wow what a lovely room!”
The only downfall no in house bar, other than that I will return. Thank you!
“Excellent choice!”
We chose to stay at the Normandy during a long weekend in D.C. The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood within a 10 minute walking distance of the metro. We had a two double bed room on the top floor. The rooms are somewhat small but beautifully maintained and, most importantly for me, extremely clean! Marble bathrooms with plenty of towels and hot water and really lovely smelling bath products. I really liked that they had extra bed blankets and pillows already stocked in the closet along with a couple of bottles in the refrigerator prestocked. There was wine and light appetizers in the downstairs "living room" in the late afternoon, and my husband and son enjoyed a game of chess while finishing their snack. The desk personnel were very friendly and willing to recommend local eateries. Really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely return!
