Dining

Twigs - This restaurant serves American cuisine with an emphasis on seafood in a casually stylish dining room. The gold-and-white decor glows with light from large windows, a partial glass atrium, and many small ceiling lamps whose wavy shades suggest falling sheets of paper. Twigs is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Lobby bar – Even though it's open to the lobby, this lounge maintains a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Photographs of literary figures such as Gore Vidal and W.H. Auden gaze down on patrons enjoying a cocktail or light meal on low-slung, Art-Deco-style furniture.

“K street side is way noisy.”

Overall, the hotel was fine. However, despite my request for a quiet room, I ended up on the K Street side, which was extremely noisy with truck traffic, police sirens, fire trucks, and the like. I should have requested another room, but for a short stay, moving would have been a pain in t he neck. If you are a light sleeper, get off K Street, and probably 16th Street as well.

Area recommendations
There are many neat neighborhoods in Wash DC. The up and coming U Street corridor (used to be very unsafe) has many nice restaurants and bars. Georgetown is always fun. There are also new areas around Capitol Hill that are interesting.

“One of the best hotel in downtown DC”

The location is very good. It is within walking distance to the White house, the Smithnosian museums and the Capitol. The room is nicely decorated and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

“Comfortable, Clean, Courteous Hotel”

Only needed one night at this hotel as I was in DC for a Cowboys/Redskins NFL Game. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff was very friendly and courteous. Only had one minor issue. I had 3 people in my room. Room had 2 Queen Beds. I asked shortly after check-in if it would be possible for a rollaway bed or cot to be sent to my room so we would each have a bed. The lady said they are not allowed to send them to a room with 2 beds already. I found this odd. She said it was hotel policy. Later that night before heading out I noticed different women at the front desk. I asked them the same question and they said it would not be a problem. When I got back to my room that night, the rollaway bed was there. Other than that small problem the hotel was great. 4 out of 5 rating from me.

“Much better than we expected”

We used 'Unpublished rates hotels' and stayed in this hotel. It was lucky that we were able to stay in such a nice hotel with great discounts! Only one thing to complain, there was no refrigerator in the room.

“Perfect”

The Capital Hilton was everything I desire from a hotel at a very affordable cost. 2 blocks from the White House, 8 blocks to Dupont Circle. Basically everything is within walking distance.

“Convenient and clean”

The location of this hotel is wonderful for walking to restaurants, the metro and the White House. The only thing that is a bit frustrating is the service. We had to mediate discussions between the Concierge and the Gift Shop for tickets to some tours and it wasn't pretty. Evidently the gift shop is run by an outside contractor they really don't care about your Hilton experience. You'll be fine if you just don't rely on the gift shop for anything.

“many things missing (including room number at door)”

Many amenities were missing from the room, starting literally with the room number. The room number was literally missing from the outside of the room, and we could barely find it. By process of elimination, we figured it out, but we were still nervous in putting key through. The room also was missing any pens envelope, or even facial soap. We had to go down to the desk and ask for all of those. If our room's condition was any indication, this hotel deserves one star, if that.

“Small rooms, but nice lobby and staff.”

If you're ok with a pretty small room with no kitchen area at all, this is a nice hotel. the bed and bedding are great and there is a flat screen tv in every room. the hotel staff and lobby are very nice. The food is very expensive, but overall, we enjoyed our stay.
