Perfect location that suited my research needs.

Posted 27-Sep-2014
Pros: The location, the history, the fact that they used real keys for the rooms, and the friendliness of the staff. Rooms were very clean.
Hotel staff was very friendly. They offered to hold our luggage after check-out until we left in the evening. They were renovating much of the hotel but they did offer a complimentary continental breakfast in the morning. Overall this was a very pleasant experience and I will definitely stay at this hotel during my next visit to Washington D.C.

Close to downtown Washington D C

Reasonable but a few issues, eg noise from street, hair dryer cord ridiculously short.

Pros: Great location, easy access to Reagan Airport and several local hotels. Complementary breakfast barely adequate.
Cons: Breakfast. The gym facility.
Pleasant & helpful staff. The fitness facility is barely adequate as is the breakfast. The room was clean and quiet.

Not as charming as expected

Posted 15-Sep-2014
Pros: The upgrade from a good web rate ( see above). The location vey good too.
Cons: Needs redecorating, upkeep and better lighting. Really annoying.
This hotel needs redecoration and cleaning. The expectations were of a historic hotel with charm. The included breakfast sounded nice. Although I appreciated the upgrade to what I was told was a redecorated corner room, I found the overall decor quite drab, windows simply filthy, even the rugs in the public hallways and in my room as well were dirty. Lighting In the halls was dark. My own bathroom had just one fluorescent light over the vanity and was so dim I could barely see in the shower. There were none of the amenities you'd expect in this sort of property ( which given it's Victorian era bones could have been a romantic super B and B): , ie, no bathrobes, faurly cheap toiletries, and a rather stingy amount of towels. The most forbidding thing was upon arrival to find no bell or doorman present to help me carry my luggage up the very high stairway. And about that breakfast: extremely uninspired small cold buffet. I skipped it and walked around the block to the lovely new Mariott. There are too many other choices in the DC area to spend your dollar here. Perhaps after the next door expansion/renovation is finished they'll redecorate. I was disappointed.

Great hotel

Love the room , great service. The only draw back was our room was right off the streets, so you could hear the outside traffic at times. I would defently go back.

Wait till its fully remodeled

Posted 28-Aug-2014
Pros: Price
Cons: Breakfast
Location: Not a very central location about 5-10 blocks from Metro.
The Morrison Clark will be a nice little boutique hotel when they finish remodeling as long as you get a good price. But for now it is under construction and the work starts promptly at 7 AM. The internet is free and there is a free breakfast which is nice to get but the breakfast is very lacking. bagels/toast and apples cold cereal ... no eggs, bacon...no hot cereal, no other fresh anything, no yogurt. Finally the location is not central but not in the middle of nowhere either so its doable. I would recommend avoiding the property until the construction is completed.

1 mile to national mall

Posted 27-Aug-2014
I'm giving this hotel 4 stars only because of the small room size and the fact that the restaurant was closed due to construction. The breakfast was fine if you are a light eater, however it consisted souly of pastries and dry cereal, coffee, juice and milk. The staff was excellent! Super helpful and friendly all around!! The amenities are lovely. The walk to downtown sounds much closer. We took the 1/2 mile walk to the metro and rode to the national mall. Proximity of restaurants was not super convenient unless you took a taxi which are somewhat pricey. Overall is a nice hotel.

Reasonably priced nice hotel

Posted 27-Aug-2014
Pros: staff was excellent. free continental breakfast very elegant.
Cons: Describing Verizon Center as "a short walk" is pushing it. It was 11 blocks.
Location: the burger joint across the street looked great and was inexpensive but the food was disgusting. there was only the one eatery that was in view.
The hotel was very historic. Despite our deep discount, they gave us a nice extra large room since it was available. The staff was extremely accommodating. We were surprised with a free (and very elegant) continental breakfast. It was quite a long walk to Verizon Center but only an $8 tax ride and there was only one local eatery which despite its cute appearance was very disappointing. The bed was very comfortable, room spacious and very clean. Parking was very expensive like all big city hotels. The restaurant was closed for renovation but probably too pricey for our needs anyway. I would definitely recommend it.

Quaint hotel, better than B&B

Posted 26-Aug-2014
Location: Ford's Theater and Madame Tussaud's are a short walk down the road.
The hotel is charming and seemed quite old. It has a nice porch facing L St. Each room is spacious and tastefully decorated. It seemed like a professional, upscale B&B.
