Nice historical Victorian hotel in downtown DC.

Posted 11-Apr-2015
Small hotel, very clean and the staff was very nice. Free breakfast, afternoon tea and wine in the eve was a plus. Rooms were very small but nice. Bed was really hard and uncomfortable. Price was great to be close to all points of interest. Traffic noise woke me at 6 am everyday but it gave us an early start on sightseeing. Best for couples in my opinion, not kid friendly. Plenty of stairs at entrance which could be an issue for some people. I would stay here again, it was a very good value compaired to other high priced hotels in the area.

National Historic Hotel

Posted 07-Apr-2015
Pros: the ambience
Cons: Communication, their advertisements
Location: Great Location
After many bumps in the road they went beyond to try to accommodate my son and I. There were many communication lapses that were not handled very well, however they did attempt if not were able to succeed in correcting the problems.

Historic Property

Posted 01-Apr-2015
The Morrison Clark Hotel is one of the National Trust for Historic Preservation properties. I especially like staying in these properties because each one is unique with beautiful lobbies, nicely decorated sitting areas and staff eager to share the history of the hotel. My corner room looked out onto the mansard roof and at one time residents could walk out onto the veranda- our porter stressed that we were not to step outside the windows- but the room was very large and filled with light. The restaurant is currently closed but the staff set up a very nice continental breakfast free of charge. The hotel is located within easy walking distance to restaurants, the Shakespeare Theatre and Verizon Center.

Building with character

Posted 29-Mar-2015
Pros: Old style furnishings that nevertheless were very comfortable.
Location: Easy walk to the main federal buildings. On a busy junction, but I was not troubled by traffic noise.
I enjoyed a very pleasant three night stay mixing business meetings with some sightseeing. The staff were very cheerful and helpful and I had all the facilities I needed.

Excellent, accommodating staff

Posted 28-Mar-2015
Pros: Staff are the highest quality.
Cons: Needed window shades or better covering over windows in the sleeping room. Would have rated the hotel higher if this was provided.
Location: White House is within walking distance, many good restaurants nearby. Very close to downtown area.
I selected this hotel primarily due to its location, and expected it to be a fairly run-down hotel due to its age. I was definitely surprised however. The hotel is older, but has been well maintained. My room was small, strange shaped, but comfortable. I think this is a European style room. At any rate, I was very pleased with the staff, at all levels. They were eager to please and were always available to address any of my needs. I will stay here again!

Nice hotel

Posted 25-Mar-2015
The hotel is in very good location, walking distance to White House. The public transportation is very close also, so me and my 8 year old daughter had no problem to get in places. The staff was very helpfull with directions and recommendations for places to eat and see. Room was very clean and quiet. We are use to bigger hotel rooms, but had no problem with this smaller one. We like the free wifi. The complimentary breakfast had smaller selection than we are use to, but there was planty to eat and choose from. Overall our stay was plesant and I will definitely choose this hotel to stay next time.

Overnight weekend stay

Posted 09-Mar-2015
My wife and I live about 75 miles from Washington, DC. When we lived closer to Washington, we had driven past the Morrison-Clark many times and often thought we'd like to stay there based on its outside architecture. The opportunity presented itself over the weekend, as we had two performances to attend at the Kennedy Center on March 7-8 and, rather than go home on Saturday night and return again the next afternoon, we opted to lodge overnight in the city. The room was spacious and clean and, unlike a recent previous experience at a different DC hotel, comfortable with respect to the temperature. The staff couldn't have been more professional. The only down side is that the Morrison-Clark isn't really within walking distance of any of the major attractions in DC, and the nearest Metro station is a decent walk (about a half mile), so driving and/or taxis would probably be required to get around the city. With that said, it's a fine establishment and one which we would certainly visit again.

Great place to stay

Posted 28-Feb-2015
Pros: Everything was in excellent condition and clean.
Cons: Check in could have been faster, without the wait.. but that was ok.
Location: Verizon center, plenty to do.
What an awesome room. Although I had to wait about 10 minutes for them to make sure the room was ready, it was well worth it. Very clean and impressive maintenance condition for such an old place.
