Washington DC weekend

Posted 26-Mar-2015
Pros: Vintage charm, location
Cons: Touch ups on the wallpaper, adding an additional mirror in bath , get more microwaves. Even though I requested a microwave in advance, they were out.
Location: Directly across from Washington Hilton, and the BigBus stop. Many restaurants and shops. Dupont Circle metro stop is not too far away.
We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Churchill. The hotel is old so with that comes the charm and character of the old building. However although it has been updated, the wallpaper is starting to lift from the wall in some places. The corners of the walls are not even and you can see old caulking piled up in some crevices. This being an old building, the hallway is narrow. I heard that the hotel was renovated in the past few years. Unfortunately it seems like it was a rush job. A fitness room and free basic (meaning slow) wifi are available. There is an option to upgrade for a fee. There is also a restaurant but we did not eat there. We had the jr suite and the room size was generous. The fridge, and table were located in a another room. We also like that the sink was separated from the tub and toilet room. However I wished there was an additional mirror placed above the sink so that two people could use it. I really liked the location and charm of the hotel. I am very open to staying at this hotel again.

nice hotel

Posted 25-Mar-2015
Pros: The location is great - close to the red metro line and several bars/restaurants/shops. The hotel restaurant is great too, and the staff are friendly
Cons: The central AC/heat system were a major problem for us, our room was at 75F and stayed that way throughout the entire trip
Location: The hotel is walking distance to Adams Morgan and Dupont Circle, and an easy metro ride to the White House, museums etc
This hotel was great, I was staying there on a business trip and had no issues. The central AC/Heat system was a problem though - it was consistently too hot in my room and there was nothing they could do.

Great hotel near beautiful Embassy's

Posted 25-Mar-2015
Pros: The staff
Cons: Control of the temperatures and updating the bathroom
Location: Surrounded by great restaurants and bars and 3 blocks from the Metro
This hotel was very beautiful and historic. We had no bad experience except that the bar/dining area was very hot! They upgraded our room because we flew in early, they met all of our calls and needs, and were very helpful. The hotel is near a lot of beautiful Embassy's, Dupont Circle, 3 blocks from the Metro and surrounded by great bars and retaurants.

Did not have a good experience at this hotel. The beds and rooms could have been cleaner.

Nice bed/ cold bath room

Posted 08-Mar-2015
Pros: Staff and location
Cons: Insulate the bathroom window.
It was exceptionally cold outside (teens). The sleeping room was nice and comfortable. The bathroom's window offered little insulation from the outside temperatures. Compounding the situation, there were no heating vents in the bathroom. This resulted in an exceptionally cold bathroom. I had to walk on towels when in the bathroom and close the door to the bathroom at night to prevent a cold draft from entering the sleeping room. The staff was great. Cold bathroom happen in historic hotels.

Decent older style hotel

Posted 06-Mar-2015
Pros: Smaller and comfy, not too many frills.
Cons: Some basic rework needs done, i.e. ceiling tiles and bath tub in bathroom. Just basic remodeling nothing major needs fixed.
Location: Easy walk to DuPont Circle and many shops north of hotel but will need to take taxi or car to get there. Nice location.
Overall, the stay was pleasant enough. Had no issues with room except that it could a bit of rework concerning the ceiling tiles in bathroom. But the hotel is in nice location with less than 10 minute walk to DuPont Circle. Just as a heads up this hotel is historic and is older so if you want modern do not come here. But is nice and cozy if you don't mind the older look.
