I stayed in the Melrose for 4 nights over Thanksgiving. I picked this hotel mainly for its location and I wasn't disappointed. 5 min walk to Foggy Bottom metro, buses passed right outside and a 5 min walk to delights of Georgetown. Plenty of places to eat & drink nearby, Wholefoods close to metro and a handy convenience store next door. The hotel itself lived upto its high TA ranking. My room on the sixth floor was very large and quiet. Bed extremely comfortable and plenty of storage. I had AC on during 1st night as I was hot - it was noisy, not sure if I could have dealt with it during summer months. Bathroom, though spotlessly clean needed some TLC - only complaint was lack of tea-making facilities in room and no available ice machine. Though free tea/coffee availble in morning (down n reception) made up for it. All staff from Desk manager to door men was extremely polite. Would definitely stay come back.
We weren't in the room much, but it was a nice hotel. Valet was a little pricey, but worth it in that area. Staff was very courteous and it was a pleasure to stay there. The bathroom was a bit small, but very clean and had all the normal amenities. I liked how close it was to everything and that you can get your car whenever you needed it.
Had a great stay at the hotel George. The room was very modern and comfortable and spacious. The only thing was a little noise in the morning from the street. We stayed on the 3rd floor, so maybe go up a couple of floors. We loved being right next to union square for food and travel. We used old town trolley for touring the Capitol.
This hotel is in a perfect location for a night in Georgetown. My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and walked to the Kennedy Center which was an easy 10-15 minute walk. They are about 20 steps from M street, the main drag in Georgetown and a block from the waterfront. Staff was very friendly, rooms were well appointed and the location cannot be beat. We parked in a garage overnight nearby on a Saturday night and it was only $10. I believe they have valet parking but they were not there on our first pass by the hotel so we found the garage that was less then a block away.
