“Worth staying at”

The hotel is well located for a visit to Stratford, particularly for going to the new Shakespeare Theatre. It is also near the Butterfly Farm. Once you have parked at the hotel everything is close enough to walk.

Area recommendations
The new Shakespeare Theatre. It is an impressive new theatre building on the best of the original theatre but with new faciliites and clseness to the stage.

“Convenient to the Avon and the new theatre”

I was surprised when I opened the door for my room and discovered a small suite. There was a small sitting room, and then a hallway to the bedroom with the en-suite bathroom off the hall. My only quibble is that the sitting room was quite dark at night. There was only a lamp on the desk with a low wattage bulb. I wanted to read the program when I returned from the theatre and wished that there had been a good reading by the chairs. I ended up sitting, not so comfortably, on the side of the bed in the well lighted bedroom. The bed was comfortable, the hotel quiet and the breakfast buffet plentiful.

“Great Location OK Hotel”

Finding the hotel was fine but parking was a problem, the hotel does give notice about parking beforehand but when you arrive to find no parking spaces it is very frustrating. There was no one at the checkout and so had to wait for someone plus the restaurant was fully booked, so pre booking is advised. The hotels location is fantastic and within yards is a Thai restaurant which turned out to be fantastic. The room itself is small but neat and fine for an overnight stay and did have a couple of problems which we should have mentioned at check out ie one of the bed lights did not work and remote for the t.v needed new batteries. The main town is a pleasant 5 minute walk away. Breakfast was ok but if we stayed again would walk into town and eat there.

“A very good hotel in an excellent location in Stratford on Avon”

The hotel was easy to find and was centraly located by the river, a short walk from the theatres. It had good parking facilities, a considerable benefit in Stratford on Avon. The receptionist was pleasant and helpful. Though not large, the room was comfortable and clean, particularly the bathroom which was spotless. The single staff member at the bar was under considerable pressure, but remained courteous. Booked through Expedia, the hotel was extremely good value - I would have expected to pay at least half again what it cost..

Area recommendations
The area near the river - it's quite charming in summer; loads of green space, lot's of interesting people from all over the world, plenty of restaurants and pubs and it's near the theatres. You can go boating if you wish, but wear insect repellent near dusk, if you're the wrong skin type the midges can be attentive! Don't forget to admire the many beautiful swans; walking to the theatre on a summer evening you can hear a constant murmur from the crowds of ducks which are mingling with them on the river. Quite idyllic!

“"We returned for a second stay during our holiday"”

The Mc Donald Swan Hotel was one of the high lights of our trip The only complaint was some difficulty with parking, but when we asked at the desk they told us we could park in a neighbouring hotel. The staff were helpful, and always responded positively to our requests. It was situated in a beautiful part of Stratford upon Avon, with only a short walk to the shops. The rooms were a good size, air conditioned and comfortable. Breakfast was fresh and edible and the view from the windows was great. Would love to go back again.

Area recommendations
Stratford Upon Avon is a beautiful area, with a lot of History. Being the birth place of Shakespear and a very old area, it is great to wander around. Much of the older areas have been maintained and preserved. Eg : some of the cobble stones were a few hundred years old, and the houses, even Englands oldest pub. It has some interesting shops with items I haven't seen anywhere else. I would recommend it and definately go back and stay a while if I get another chance.
Getting there
We hired a car to get to Stratford Upon Avon but once there, parked the car and walked everywhere comfortably.
What to pack
Going in May, I should have bought more light clothing as is got hot at times, but then returned to cooler weather.
Events and shows
Shakespear plays on nightly. definately worth a watch. the visit to Warwick Castle was geat, and the whole display very well done and worth the visit.

“Will choose to stay in this hotel when next visiting Stratford.”

The Swan's Nest hotel is well situated for exploring Stratford and going to the theatre. The hotel itself is fine and the rooms furnished nicely. The staff were very helpful and friendly and service in the restaurant was very good. It was pleasant to sit looking out across the Avon river whilst eating breakfast.

Area recommendations
Stratford is not a large city so one can explore the whole of it quite easily.

“Not overly impressed”

Arrived to a full car park. Eventually someone returned from their shopping trip and we were able to park. The room was next to an air-conditioning outlet and the incessant droning was almost unbearable. We usually stay in the Q hotel but the hotel was full so we chose here. Whilst the location was great for the theatre, I definitely prefer the Q.

“good choise”

The entrance to the hotel was very secluded. We had to drive around the hotel two times before finding the entrance. There was no sign. Shower was not runnıng properly. The bathroom was very clean. Towels were soft, and clean. The room was just the right size for a standart room, and it was clean. The reception desk was very helpful and smiling. The restaurants they reccommended us were very good.
