“Superb Hotel in Fabulous Grounds”
This hotel is of excellent quality throughout and is located in the most beautiful, tranquil and peaceful countryside setting. Our room, in one of the outbuildings, was modern, spacious, clean and comfortable. There is a lovely health spa (in the with price) and the staff everywhere were smart attentive and courteous. We will certainly go back again.
“Fantastic relaxing break.”
Having spent 2 nights in Stratford Upon Avon this was our relaxing break, and it really was.
“Excellent service”
I was pleasantly surprised to find a hotel where all the staff were so helpful.
“Great hotel in fabulous grounds will definitely return again”
My husband and I have just returned from our anniversary weekend. Having read some of the previous reviews we were not expecting too much from this hotel. Well they must have stayed somewhere else is all I can say! This hotel has been refurbished and our room was lovely not overly large though but bed very comfy, soft sheets, large flat screen tv on the wall, and very nice bathroom although towels could have not a bit softer! The hotel grounds are absolutely stunning, we walked all around and into the Walton Hall Hotel which is beautiful. Both hotels share the same grounds and they also share the pool and spa. We used the pool, had it to ourselves, it is in need of a refurb and the pool attendant did say this was being considered. I think it needs it now as I would not be too impressed if I had paid 5* prices and stayed at the Hall and used the pool. Can't commemt on the spa as I didn't have time to use it but spoke to people that did and they said is was very good. Drinks quite pricey but it's a 4* star hotel so same prices as good bar/restaurant. We had a deal which included dinner on the first night, the food was fabulous as was the service. The breakfast was also was good with a buffet service, shown to your table which I liked. So all in all I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a romantic get away break. Straford upon avon was very close and the town/restaurant were excellent. Weather was hot and sunny so that also made it as well!
“Pleasant family stay”
Having read previous reviews the hotel exceeded my expectations. As a family we particularly enjoyed the swimming pool which was lovely and warm. The breakfasts were good and worth the short wait for a table. The rooms were clean and pleasant though not huge. We did not eat dinner at the hotel as a set menu only was on offer but The King's Head in nearby Wellesbourne served a good choice of pub food and had a friendly atmosphere. Overall , the hotel was very good value for money.
“Excellent value for money”
Modern hotel with good facilities well sited for visiting Stratford. Excelelnt value for money.
“Impressed”
Beautiful location, lots of car parking, good facilities, modern decor and room. We had the dinner included in the two nights stay. The food was lovely, however the restaurant is in where you have breakfast so it is more like a 'room'. Service however was excellent. Overall enjoyed the stay.
“Barcelo Walton Hotel - room let our stay down”
We booked a double room, which was in a modern secure block, with the surrounding grounds being lovely. The breakfast was well catered, leisure centre well maintained, but as for our room, the floor was sinking around the bed, it dipped when being walked on and the ceiling covered in damp stains, the radiator was not working, so whilst we slept well (making use of the bed runner for warmth), for 4 star accommodation it was dissapointing. Lleaving me wondering how the star system is rated, on rooms or complex? I hope the hotel reads these reviews and takes note!
“Great place but eat out in the evening”
The hotel setting is very impressive, situated in acres of countryside with its own lake and river. We were booked into the hotel as opposed to the Hall and the hotel surrounds were quite new and modern. On arrival the receptionist was extremely helpful and when we discovered that the swimming pool and sauna were out of action and had been for several weeks they were very apologetic explaining that we should have been made aware. They offered an upgrade for 1 night to the hall, but as this would have meant moving we declined the offer and were offered a bottle of wine, which we agreed to take with dinner. The room was comfortable but not very impressive and I’m not sure it lived up to a 4* rating. There was no mini bar or hair dryer. The hanging space was in alcove rather than a wardrobe, This alcove also held the iron and ironing board, the safe, the tea making equipment and a small chest of drawers , making it very cramped. The free bottle of wine made up for an extremely over priced meal. I would not recommend anyone to have an evening meal at the hotel. We did have a very nice breakfast with a good selection of cereals, fresh and dried fruit as well as the usual cooked breakfast choice on the Saturday. Whilst there was a similar choice on the Sunday we arrived a little latter and the fresh fruit choice had all but gone. All in all I would go back and recommend it for the grounds and the friendly staff, but I would suggest you eat out in the evening.
“A pleasant stay, in a good location.”
My boyfriend and I spent 2 nights at the Barcelo hotel as part of a short stay in Stratford upon Avon. We found the room to be quite comfortable, if a little small. The restaurant is quite pricey, but the breakfast buffet which was included in the price of the room, was adequate. No room service is provided at the hotel. It was set in lovely grounds - perfect for a walk or a run. Great distance from Stratford and Warwick castle. The spa/swimming pool was a let down. Rather run down and not very pleasing to the eye.
