Lovely pub/hotel in great location.

Good weekend spent, excellent breakfast, nice food in the evening, happy with the family room, only problem was the booking with Expedia and inability to include children on the booking resulting in an unexpected excess of £70 needing to be paid.

Great time and excellent service.

We had a great time at the Red Lion and the room was nice and big (and excellent for a family of 4). Had all the comforts required and our girls loved the bunk bed. All in all great service and a very nice inn.

Nice country pub,good food,lovely staff

Posted 20-Dec-2014
Pros: Lovely staff (family run), nice rooms & superb food.
My wife & I booked & stayed 3 nights mid November, the main reason to visit Longleat Chinese lights festival. I am extremely pleased having chosen The Red Lion, receiving an extremely friendly welcome. The room was very nice, clean & well appointed. The crowning glory was the breakfast-full English, local produce, perfectly cooked & presented-so filling we didn't need to eat all day! We also ate here each evening, with pub dinners, with the menu all home made- my wife particularly fond of mint cheesecake! The owners are really putting some effort into running this establishment & providing a really nice experience for guests. I would gladly return here & totally recommend anyone needing accommodation in this area to pay a visit.

We would stay again

Posted 29-Nov-2014
Pros: Food, ambience, room deco, spacious family room, close to longleat, welcoming to families, down to earth, friendly staff.
Cons: Mattresses on bunk beds
Location: We visited longleat - great location for that.
This was a family stopover for Longleat. We had a lovely stay, nice meal, great breakfast, aesthetically pleasing family room. We almost couldn't fault any of it only our children, age 5 and 10, both found their mattresses on the bunk beds really quite uncomfortable. I've never heard them mention such things before, so I think they really were quite bad, which didn't allow us to all settle as we might. The above aspect was a bit of a spoiler on what otherwise would have been a perfect stay. I would really like to return, I just hope that something can be done about the mattresses.
