The bed was uncomfortable. I requested a big bed but was given 2 uncomfortable singles. The room is in a different building than the reception & bar meaning you have to walk outside then in to join the bar & breakfast in the morning. The breakfast quality is not worth the money you pay for. The food is located in a dark area. The jam selection is poor, had no taste to it. The staff were overwhelmed, had to ask for a warm glass of milk and was told “wait” maybe a language barrier.

Really a cool hotel. Classic, great restaurant and outdoor area. Lovely breakfast - a fresh wide selection. The rooms are great. Do yourself a favour and stay at Van Der Valk Waterloo.

Great hotel in Waterloo with fantastic service
As repeat visitors to the hotel both under previous and current management, we have always enjoyed our stays as it is in a very convenient location both for Waterloo itself and for Brussels, and the rooms of various sizes we have stayed in have always been good value for money. Parking is free and easy, the new outside bar /dining area is a nice addition Breakfast (buffet) was always included previously and no longer is as a Van der Valk hotel, so that would be my one negative point. But this was the first time we also had dinner at the restaurant though and it certainly won't be the last as we found the food and service were very good. Considering how busy the restaurant was both with locals and guests, it is definitely a sign of ongoing quality. When checking into our room, we found that the air conditioning in our room was not working, which was a worry in the current hot weather. We immediately asked reception if it could be looked at. We were informed some rooms have issues with air conditioning due to ongoing upgrades in the hotel, but the receptionist then went out of his way to find us an alternative room with working air conditioning and he eventually did. I can not say enough how friendly and helpful he was and how much more enjoyable he made our stay.

Large hotel conveniently located on the outskirts of Brussels with quick access to the motorway and Waterloo town centre where there are plenty of sightseeing and shopping opportunities. The rooms are large and well fitted out. Heating is not ideal, with a single radiator hidden behind some furniture which, in spite of the time of year, had been turned off before we arrived, which made for a very cold and uncomfortable few hours until the room eventually warmed up. The bathroom was large, with good water pressure in the bath/shower, although we could have done with a longer shower curtain as ours did not quite reach the rim of the bath. We didn't have dinner in the restaurant, but know it to be good from previous experience, We did have breakfast which was well-stocked with fresh supplies and set up to ensure adequate social distancing and cleanliness. Parking is outdoors around 100 metres from the hotel front entrance (on the property) but the luggage drop-off area is wide and easily accessible. Overall, in spite of the heating issue, we would happily go back on future trips.

We've stayed for one night with our dog. We enjoy the staff from breakfast and reception. They are all showing a willingness to make our stay as high as possible. Close to the hotel, we found a green area in a Business Center to let our dog went for a walk.

The Grand Dame is Showing Her Age
The Grand Hotel no longer lives up to its name or the quality standards of Martin's Hotels. The facilities are showing their age and everything felt a bit more run down than my last stay a few years ago. There are far better values to be found in Waterloo (Ibis) as well as location and quality (Côté Vert).
