I stayed in 1 bedroom kitchenette suite. Suite was spacious and comfortable. Nice pool. Only bad thing I can point out is they try hard to convince you to attend time share presentation when picking up parking pass. Resort is right next to the ocean but the beach is small and has course beach - not suitable for swimming or sunbathing but OK for walks. Lydgate beach is 5 minute drive away.
Plantation Hale was a very comfortable place to stay. It has a kitchen complete with full size refrigerator, stove, microwave and all your pots, pans and all your plates, bowls, glasses and everything else needed, you just buy your own food and your set. It has 2 flat screen TVs. One in the living room and one in the bedroom. Dining room table and chairs and couch. Also, a balcony with a great view with a couple chairs and table out there, or if your on the ground level a patio with the same. They have 2 pools and Jacuzzi's & Laundry facilities.
The staff is very friendly and if needed they can do a late check out for you if available.
We thought the Courtyard by Marriott was a lovely resort and it was convenient base location. Very safe. There were plenty of restaurants, grocery stores, and small shops nearby. I did not have the breakfast as it was just too easy to go out and get it cheaper. Didn't want to splurge on breakfast so there was McDonald's and Burger King close by. We did try the Kountry Kitchen one day but ended up spending $30 for breakfast and decided $12 @ McDonalds was plenty. We only ate at the Voyager, hotel restaurant, one evening and the food I thought was very good. Drinks from the bar were a little pricey but that's probably true everywhere on the island. Our room faced the pool and you could see the ocean to. I was very pleased with our view. Room was clean and seemed to be up to date. In the lobby there was an expedia agent to help book excursions which was helpful. Plenty of parking. Not much to do at night but after a day out and about we were ready to just chill at the hotel. Overall I would definitely stay here again. The only beef is the resort fee of $20 per day as I didn't use the towels but once and had one drink. Parking should always be free if you are a paying customer. I believe the resort fee is at all sites so no way of getting out of that. I don't know why they just don't include it in the cost to begin with.
It is a great place to stay. The prices are the best. The location is great. The people are great. free parking. Shopping center right across the street. But best of all is this little restaurant in the shopping center that has home cooked meals. the best home cooking we had while on Kauai. Great people run the place and it has the best beefsteak and gravy I ever had. Breakfast is best also. If it weren't for that little restaurant we would have starved. the name of the place is Waipouli Restaurant in the corner of the shopping center. Right across the street from the hotel. A lot of chickens roam the area but they are great fun to watch. The hotel is right on the beach. You can sleep to the sounds of the waves crashing on the shore. great place, bes we had in all the islands with the help of the little restaurant.

We were winging the room thing in Kauai and found his hotel on Expedia, price was right for a newly renovated room, the decor was stylish and having a brand new kitchen with the eating bar and stainless steel appliances was a bonus. The pool was quaint but very well kept and a pleasure to swim and suntan (very private). We were pretty much the only guest staying a the 52 unit hotel the reason being is the other half of the hotel is under construction and this is probably deterring other guest. We were gone most of the days so constructions wasn't a problem for us and with not many guest around we pretty much had our own little Paradise. When we return to Kauai we will definitely re-booked in the other phase which will be on the ocean view side.
