Stayed for a long weekend. A pleasant stay, but the hotel falls short of being a 5* Experience and hotel in many areas. Read Below as I try to break it down into all its Pros/Cons:
Check in / Concierge:
Tedious and a bit arduous. The hotel seems to think that putting Trainees on front of house with NO SUPERVISION is acceptable. This is a bit silly considering the hotel expects cruise tour groups and should know about their busy times. Had to wait 20min for the concierge just for a map! The hotel needs to decide on the service it can provide for the clientele. It seems it cannot cope with the large group tours so far.
Good size, bathrobe and slippers (in plastic) provided. I didn't like the fact that the TV only had 2 English channels and the were both news! Some bits of the room show some wear and tear.
Conclusion: Don't think you are getting the complete 5* experience, but it is definitely a nice hotel to stay at.
The check-in process was exceptionally well-done, due to the attentive, professional and friendly nature of the young lady handling the front desk duties. She answered my typically novice type questions with aplomb and made me feel quite welcome and secure. I mention "secure" since the hotel itself seems to be in a somewhat dodgy neighborhood with graffiti prevalent on many nearby buildings. Access to the hotel is accomplished by using a key-card or by the staff opening the door. That said, the location is only a few short blocks from the river and to public transit. The tariff was reasonable for my lodging...much lower than a comparable room in "old town." The bathroom was lined with beautiful marble and the bath fixtures were of high quality. Room was spotless.
The room was clean and nice and the staff was really helpful.
The hotel is really close to the Congress Center and good for sightseeing as well, because the subway station is close, and the famous spots are just a few stops from there.

Made this trip to look for a musical instrument (which I found, thankfully, in the 11th hour). All I needed was somewhere affordable, basic and conveniently located. I got all three at Beta Pension. I had my own room (tho with 4 bunks total). Free wifi, clean bathroom and shower on the same floor. The tram lets off virtually right in front of the building. There's a friendly bar in the same building on the ground floor. Czech beer is cheaper than water, and probably better for you too. (Warning to whiny non-smokers: it is like a pub should be and allows patrons to light up). Back at the hostel, there's a continental breakfast every morning in the basement from 8 til 10 in the morning (which I did not avail myself to till my last day). All told, a very positive experience; it's not the Waldorf, but I was very happy with the price I paid and what I received in turn.
Considered the first settlement of Prague, legend has it that Vysehrad was the seat of the first Czech rulers. On a rocky hill by the city centre, the Vysehrad Castle ruins dominate the area. The fortress offers stunning views and deep casemates, and it is home to the striking St. Martin's Rotunda, the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, and the national cemetery, all guarded by the ancient gates.
