We enjoyed this hotel, a short stroll to the central downtown area and right next to Vondel Park. I would stay here again.
My only complaint is that the shower soaks the whole bathroom floor and all 5 towels (2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, floor mat) need to be replaced each day. However they were only replaced twice of 5 nights, the other 3 days we were left with only two bath towels. That's what took points off for me.
Wall paper and trim falling off wall. Fan in bathroom did not work. Door has to be locked from inside or outside-does not automatically lock. Very old creaky stairs. Only one (set of) outlet in the room. Location is great.

I have been coming to this hotel for about 25 years and would recommend it to anybody who is looking for a place to stay in Amsterdam. It is walking distance from the center, or you just hop on Tram 2. The staff was extremely helpful as always during my stay last week, the rooms are nice and clean.
"Decent location. Very helpful and friendly staff. "
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are a little small, as with many European hotels but are quite comfortable. Only annoying thing was that in our first room, the shower had a lousy seal which lead to water leaking all over the bathroom floor. Location was right next to a tram station which was convenient. Hotel was also easy to find and get to via public transport from Schipol airport. Overall, I would stay here again.

Our first trip to Amsterdam. We selected a hotel not too close to the centre but also not too far out. The Conscious Museum Square was ideal and we found good places to eat nearby as well as further afield in the Old part of the City. Spent a lot of time walking alongside canals and visiting the small shops along the way. Ate well at De Blauwe Hollander on Leidsekruisstraat and at Loetje on Johannes Vermeerstraat. Found a great place for coffee and sandwiches/cakes at de Koffie schenkerij which is adjacent to the Oude Kerk - One of the rooms is where Rembrandt married Saskia. Prices for food and drink was not as expensive as we thought it would be.
We walked miles but found few public benches, especially near canals, where you can sit and watch without having to buy a drink.
Need to keep your wits about you when crossing roads as bikes and scooters seem to come from all directions and are reluctant to stop!
Lots to see and do in Amsterdam. The 197 bus service was a lot easier getting back to Schipol Airport than using the train and tram.
Had a great stay, but the morning we were leaving I was very disappointed with the attitude of the receptionist Fri 10 th July at 8 30 am, as we were checking out we were not quite clear on the procedure and she had to repeat herself much to her annoyance and made us feel uncomfortable stayed many times and not encountered such rudeness before !!!!!!
This large grassy space is a great place to escape the bustle of the city. In summer Amsterdammers come here to stroll, jog, roller-skate, sunbathe, listen to free concerts and watch the buskers and children’s entertainers. The Nederlands Filmmuseum is a very popular cinema (free outdoor screenings in summer) with an excellent café restaurant. The Hollandse Manege is a charming period building and home to the Dutch Riding School.
