My son and I were looking for a quick last minute trip to the beach. I had originally booked another hotel but wasn't satisfied with the reviews so I canceled and began a new search. The Belvedere popped up and I remember a dear friend saying "It's where the civilized people stay on the boardwalk" after a trip there several years back. The price was a bargain and so I booked three nights.
Upon arrival, my son was a bit skeptical because of the pool and the way the newer high rises towered around it. Once inside, we were greeted by the most wonderful staff. The inside is nothing short of charming and comfortable. It was very relaxed and airy which is what I had hoped it would be. The staff was extremely accommodating from getting us ice and a coffee maker to helping us extend our stay another day because we were enjoying our vacation so much. We loved the diner and enjoyed breakfast there each morning. The ladies who work there were super friendly and asked us about our different excursions while we were visiting.
This place is truly a gem in the middle of the bedlam that can be Virginia Beach. I'm so sad it will be replaced by a newer building. I would have definitely come back to stay any chance I had to return to VB.
Almost everything about this hotel was GREAT, the room was great, the pools were great, the staff was great, the location was great. The only draw back is the parking garage. I had read the other reviews and had been fully warned, but nothing can describe the fear that is instilled while driving in this "IT'S A SMALL WORLD" parking garage. The entrance and exit are the same space and only one car wide. The exiting vehicle has to make a blind turn into the oncoming entering vehicles. The ramps up and down the levels are barely large enough for a car to make the turn. What an experience!
So definitely come and stay at this hotel, but drive your smallest vehicle.

Check in & check out was smooth. Parking is a little tight, but was manageable. Rooms aren't fancy, but it was clean & comfortable & all of the rooms are oceanfront so that's a plus! My daughter loved going out on the balcony & looking at the water. Front desk staff & cleaning staff are pleasant, we stayed a week & didn't have housekeeping everyday, but they let us know we could get any extras we needed at the front desk. Newcastle Inn is right in the middle of everything! Right across the street from the Raven, close to stores, within walking distance of everything & the pier. We really enjoyed our stay & would definitely stay again!
Church Point Manor is NOT a hotel; it's a home. Absolutely beautiful décor, porches, outdoor seating, pool, adequate parking, very secure location. Traveling on business with my wife, we stayed two nights and felt totally at home. Located in an upscale neighborhood, access was easy but privacy was excellent and we walked and jogged all over the area with abandon. Their restaurant (Cellars) was as good as it gets; service was impeccable and the food was heavenly. The room was beautifully appointed, independently air conditioned and very quiet. We rested well. Do be advised that access to and getting luggage to the second floor is by stairs only, which may be a challenge to some guests.
Several excellent seafood restaurants about 10 minutes away by car and the beach only a few minutes more. Not a place for those seeking a party, beachy venue. Staff was most hospitable and quick to respond to any request. Breakfast is included and the chef provided whatever we requested. We felt like we owned the place and will stay again if we are in the area.
We chose the Sheraton because it is one of the few hotels that is pet-friendly and on the beach. Overall it was nice, but for the price paid we've stayed at better hotels. Throughout the day there are military planes flying overhead, so the noise is very unpleasant and get quite irritating by the second day. Staff was friendly and helpful. The ground floor (pool/beach) smells a bit damp/mildewy and needs attention.
The state’s largest city, Virginia Beach is known for the inviting stretches of sand that front the Atlantic Ocean. A three-mile boardwalk hosts runners, bikers, and in-line skaters as they whiz by the shops, restaurants, amusements, and many hotels along the way. The military has a strong presence here, too, with air and naval stations situated throughout Virginia Beach.
