Seville is a fascinating city. The Hotel Dona Maria is a gem. It is located right off the square of the Cathedral. It is so conveniently located that you don't need to take a taxi.
The staff was so helpful and courteous. They gave us suggestions for dinner and the flamenco show/dinner.
The only problem was finding the hotel. It is so difficult driving a car through the old part of the city, one way streets, pedestrian ways, etc. Once you find the hotel you are very pleased. This is the surprise of Seville!
We stayed in a cathedral facing room with a balcony, had an extremely positive experience. The staff were very responsive and helpful and the hotel and room were in great shape and clean. For a weekend getaway for a couple, the room and hotel were an ideal experience.
This is the best location in Seville, so close to all major attractions and close to some great restaurants. The terrace is a good spot to relax after a long day and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel.
My husband and I made a last-minute booking for one night at Casa 1800 in Seville, in July 2014. We felt lucky to have found a room available at a great price (75 Euro/night). Upon arriving, we were pleasantly surprised to see just how nice Casa 1800 was! The hotel is in a beautifully restored Spanish building, with a central open-air atrium. The complimentary afternoon snack was wonderful, since it was so hot mid-afternoon that we chose to take a break at the hotel and enjoy some Nespresso coffee with delicious pastries. Our rate did not include breakfast, but it looked good.
The room was tasteful and comfortable. Nice linens, modern bathroom, fluffy bathrobes.
The location is excellent -- within minutes of the Cathedral and the Real Alcazar. The Plaza de España and the Torre de Oro are short walks away. Seville has a great public transportation system and their "city bike" program was very popular. The first half hour of bike rental was free!

The hotel was formerly a convent. The layout, décor and ornamentation have scarcely changed. Not only are there exquisite tiled surfaces and highly ornamental woodwork, but also religious pictures - even vestments on display. Coming out of the lift on the ground floor we were confronted with a purple chasuble - as it was Lent, this was the correct liturgical colour, so I wondered if they would change it to red on Palm Sunday!
On the ground floor were both a tapas bar and a restaurant, the latter similarly ornamented.

Fantastic location in the middle of the historic centre of the city. The rooms are tastefully decorated and well appointed. The staff were great too, very attentive and happy to give lots of recommendations, in our case the best tapas bars. This also included suggestions off the beaten track in slightly less touristy areas that we might not have visited otherwise. This hotel is also fantastic value given the location.

Great location, nice place - not upscale, but great.
I had cold and rainy weather in the middle of February and there is no central heat (or A/C if you are traveling in the summer). The heater in the room was better than nothing, but barely adequate. I was glad I had checked the weather report in advance and had the appropriate clothing, especially for sleeping.
There was no safe in the room, but I had a suitcase lock and put anything I cared about in the suitcase. I'm a little paranoid so maybe this wasn't necessary, but I wasn't willing to take any chances.
Bring your own electrical adaptor. My room had two outlets. There was a hair dryer but the cord was really tightly wound and it wasn't easy to use.
Definitely check the weather before you go! If it says "rain," bring an umbrella and waterproof footwear! The people over there dress really nicely, but it was more important to be dry than fashionable.
Carry a copy of your passport. You may need it, but don't want to risk losing it. You can keep your passport in your room and use the copy while shopping. No problem.
