The location was ideal - Templeman Street offers so much... dining, boutiques and best of all street art in every direction - up, down, north, south, east and west! The room, bath and beds were beyond comfortable and the decor delightful. A delicious breakfast along with warm and welcoming staff greeted us each morning. If you are lucky enough to visit Valparaiso, be sure to stay at Puerta Escondida!

This hotel was the perfect location for my short stay. I wish I had more time in Valparaiso! The room was bright and quiet, the shower was fabulous, breakfast was plentiful and full of choices, and the location of the hotel was right in the middle of the artist section. Everything I wanted to see and do was in walking distance! The hotel staff was helpful, engaging, and made me feel absolutely at home. I would return to the hotel in a heartbeat :)

Perfect place to stay in Valparaiso! The location is excellent with many very good restaurants, shopping, ATM, lots of street art and a funicular all within easy walking distance. Violeta was very helpful and welcoming. Her suggestions for restaurants were excellent! We would definitely stay here again.

Nice cosy hotel with good location
Clean, convenient hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Building is a bit old but that’s the whole charm of Valparaiso! Highly recommended.

It was a older home remodeled into a B&B . Small but comfortable room for one with a small ,but attractive private bath.the breakfast was euro style but with eggs to order,very nice. Good locale for art shops and friendly restaurant. P.S. good water pressure and hot!

Violeta was a great host accommodating our needs as was the cook who prepared breakfast. The room was as expected from the description. The location was ideal in the middle of Cerro Alegre and an easy walk to Paseo Dimalow. Highly recommended!

We had a brilliant stay - beautiful property in an excellent location. Lovely comfortable and clean room and a decent hot shower. Good continental breakfast and friendly and helpful staff.

Have fun in this funky neighborhood
Great location - fantastic neighborhood to walk around. B&B is clean and breakfast delicious (fresh juices, fruit, eggs, avocado, cheeses and meats). Staff friendly and helpful always. Room was a little small but I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Wonderful
After staying here for four nights, all I can say is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! The staff was friendly and helpful providing us with plenty of guidance of what to do in the area and great suggestions about where to eat nearby. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was delicious and filling with plenty of variety including delicious, fresh fruit. We highly recommend staying here.

Great hotel for short stay in Valpariso,Chile.
We stayed upstairs in larger room. King bed,lots of Windows ,in great location. Violet was a fabulous manager. She helps gladly with everything. Breakfast nice. Can be a bit noisy on a warm nite when you have to open windows on front facing rooms but still worth it! The city is fabulous and can be seen by walking.

Convenient and comfortable small hotel
This is a nice small hotel and a great base from which to visit Valparaiso. The staff is warm, friendly, and very helpful. The free breakfasts are very good. There are many fine restaurants a short walk away. The Ascensor is only a block away which eliminates climbing the steep hill from the downtown commercial area.

Very Comfortable B&B with a Wonderful Staff
After a very long journey to reach Valparaiso, we were delighted to reach our hotel room and be greeted by a very friendly hostess who allowed me to check in early. The room was very clean and very nice sporting wooden floors, a wonderful shower, and a very comfortable bed. I felt very cozy staying there and it was a joy to return after a long day of exploring all that Valparaiso has to offer. Scrambled eggs is, to my understanding, not a typical Chilean breakfast, but because the lady who served us breakfast knew we were from the US she would make them for us. This was a sweet gesture and made the breakfast remind me of home. We were also served bacon, bread, meats and cheeses, yogurt, fruit, coffee, and juice. I was quite unhappy with myself when one morning I found that I slept right through breakfast. Puerta Escondida is between Cerro Concepcion and Cerro Alegre which is a great spot for tourism and experiencing the city. Less than a five minute walk away we enjoyed fantastic sushi, ice cream, pastries, and of course empanadas. Our hostess was great in pointing out good local spots to visit and loaning us an umbrella when it was pouring rain outside. If we visit Valparaiso again, and I certainly hope that we do, I will most certainly stay at Puerta Escondida a second time.

Nice B&B in Valpairiso
This is a nicely maintained facility the appears to have been remodeled or renovated not long ago. The people were very nice and accommodated our early arrival. The room was clean and comfortable with good quality beds. The bathroom had also been updated with attractive tile and a spacious shower stall. Breakfast was excellent with eggs cooked to order, bacon and toast. I would highly recommend this B&B .

Great B&B, Good Location, Wonderful Staff!
Wonderful place to stay for a few days exploring the town. We left the cruise ship early in the morning, got a taxi to our B&B knowing checkin was much later in the afternoon. We were welcomed with big smiles as if we were family, served coffee and offered breakfast, all the while the gal was trying to make arrangements for our room to be cleaned first. Needless to say, we checked in several hours earlier than the official time. The owner, Andreas, is a real gem and helped me with several tricky calls to Canada to change flights etc. He speaks excellent English, is very knowable, and went out of his way, as did the two other staff members, to make our stay memorable, stress free and fun! The place is very clean, the breakfasts are great, the interaction with the small staff is excellent, and the smiles and laughter are plentiful. The bathrooms are modern and meticulous with huge towels, and a good shower with lots of water pressure. The B&B is in a fabulous location and walking everywhere is easy and fun. We`d go back in a heartbeat and stay with Andreas every time. Please get in touch Andreas, and thanks for the ride to the airport. You`re a real champ!

Great Bed and Breakfast in a Good Location
There's really nothing bad to say about Puerta Escondida. There is a good chance Americans staying in Valparaiso for the first time will be a bit shocked by the graffiti and dirty streets, but PE can't be held responsible for all of that. The hotel interior is very clean and the furniture is comfortable and high quality. I mentioned the graffiti, but as far as I can tell, that is universal in Valparaiso and it doesn't mean PE is in a dangerous neighborhood. In fact, the location is actually pretty good in terms of quick access to the bus system and lots of good restaurants and cafes and such in the immediate area. The staff was great - very polite and accommodating, and they spoke great English. I never had a bit of trouble communicating and they threw in some nice touches like emailing the day before to see how things were going and when I might show up. They were very flexible on arrival and departure times (maybe it is different during peak travel season). Finally, the breakfasts were pretty good too. Simple fare, but filling (in fact, they basically bring bread until you can't possibly eat anymore) and tasty. They also had good, free, wi-fi.

Great B&B in the heart of Cerro Conception
We were attracted to this hotel by a picture of the exterior and the high ratings. There is no place quite like Cerro Conception (Cerro = hill) for the abundance of street art and palate of colors on the building facades. This is a small hotel, 5 rooms, owned by a young man, who seems anxious to please his guests. He, Andreis, speaks pretty good English and helped us book a bus trip to the South (Temuco). The rooms have 12 foot ceilings, polished floors, with small, but modern bathrooms. After our trip South, we plan to return here, rather than spend the night in Santiago. There are lots of fine restaurants just a few blocks away, including Turri. Within a few blocks you can take the ascensor down to the city center. I should add that there is little traffic, so it is quiet.

Our room was on the street level right off of the front door. It was sparten with no room to manuver around the three beds. The breakfast area was three tiny tables. It was noisy, uncomfortable and very, very expensive for a hostel.

Excellent service & great location in Concepcion
We booked last minute - our 2nd visit to Valpo. Great location & service from Andres very good. We had the deluxe double for $90usd per night which I think was over-priced for that particular room, the reasons being the room is small & the shower is the smallest I've ever encountered anywhere. Bed was extremely comfortable, linens soft and very clean.

The hotel was in a great location. Many wonderful restaurants near by. We stayed for 3 nights and ate at a different restaurant each night that was recommended by the hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

Magic Valparaiso
We loved Valparaiso and would have been cheated if we had come to Chile without visiting this town. Much to do with that was the helpful advice of Andres and the beautiful accomodation of Puerto Escondida. Fortunately he had excellent English as we had no Spanish. This accommodation is the best we have stayed in among other hotels and apartments in Chile on this trip. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by Andres shown to our comfortable room overlooking the cooling courtyard. The bathroom though small was well appointed and the enormous fluffy towels spelled luxury, the mattress and pillows were so comfortable that sleeping was no problem at any time. This accommodation is placed in a wonderful area of Valparaiso close to many fabulous eateries and is absolutely in the best part of town. Breakfast was served every morning from 8:00am till 11:00am and set us up for a full day, freshly baked crusty bread, freshly squeezed juice, freshly chopped fruit salad, yoghurt and if eggs were required, these too were served with the ham and cheese selection. I highly recommend Puerto Escondida.

Nice hostel/b&b
This establishment is newer and the owner started it about a year or two ago. It is located in an area where there are a lot of hostels. There are also a few restaurants around the area you can eat at and since its located near the top of the hill, you have great views of the harbor when you're walking around exploring. Breakfast consisted of cut meats, cheese, and bread but something about the freshness of it was delectable for my hubby and I! We would absolutely recommend this place... The only drawback is that it IS located near the top of the hill and you can easily get lost with the maps they provide. After a long day of exploring, we took a taxi back up. Other than that, it was great!

Porta "Escondida" ma facile da trovare
Si trova in un barrio tranquillo. La nostra camera doppia era enorme, arredata con l'essenziale ma con molto gusto. Soffitti altissimi,  pavimenti in legno. Dava sulla strada quindi un po' rumorosa. Bagno con doccia e phon. C'era la cassaforte (molto utile in Valparaíso). Colazione a buffet ottima. Ragazzi alla reception gentilissimi  e disponibili.

Accogliente e centrale, personale stupendo.
Il B&B si trova sul Cerro Concepcion in posizione tranquilla ma strategica in quanto dista pochi passi dall'ascensore per il centro citta. Le camere sono pulite ed accoglienti. Quello che ha fatto la differenza per noi è stata la cortesia del personale. Appena arrivati in Cile abbiamo infatti subito un furto al terminale Pajarito di Santiago ed i ragazzi della reception ci hanno dato tutta l'assistenza del caso.
