“Great chioce.”
Very friendly and serviceable staff. Great value. This is a family oriented hotel with a very 1970's feel. It is located in a very nice area close to parks and museums, not so close to the city center though. Despite the dated architecture and feel of the hotel, the staff do their best to make you feel at home.
“Questionable Practices”
Viva Villahermosa seemed fine. They have a good Sunday brunch (great tamales), an okay pool, hot pools were murky and tepid, not hot. One person at the front desk who speaks great English. But, they 'lost' my reservation from Expedia and did not "find it" until checkout. They said Expedia had booked me for December 23 rather than December 26 and had a record on their letterhead, not Expedia's. I had all my backup from Expedia with me, did not seem to matter. I was told, at check in that breakfast would be included, at check out I was charged for it, even though I was never told that my reservation had been found and breakfast with Expedia was not included. I did not appreciate the experience. The hotel is near La Venta--a not to be missed attraction in Villahermosa, but I'd recommend the Hyatt across the street or another hotel nearby on the same street rather than the Viva Villahermosa
“Hotal Viva, Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico”
Like all but the newest hotels in Mexico, Viva needs some maintenance. Having said that, it's a good hotel with staff that care about their guests.
“Calinda Viva Villahermosa”
The 1st night we were unable to sleep as the room next door had small children who were screaming and playing hide and seek until 12 pm. We called reception 3 times and while they did send security to quiet the family down, it did not help. Needless to say we travelled 12 hours the next day on almost no sleep. The 2nd night ( on our return to the htl ) the receptionist tried to charge us extra upon check in. The 1st room we were assigned was a ground floor with a sliding door that did not lock so we moved and the 2nd room was fine.
