"A unique room close to shops, restaurants, ferries"
I chose the end room (there are two) which had a partial view of the lake. The room was large and it was great to have tea and coffee available in the room. The decor was very interesting and and the rooom extremely clean and comfortable. It's location in the town means that you are close to the ferry terminal and all the shops and restaurants. I liked having the breakfast items in the room as it meant that I could leave early to catch my train. I was the only guest so the shared bathroom (which is very spacious) was not a issue.

STRESA B&B opens all year around ; it stands right in the historical centre of Stresa, it is part of the Lake Maggiore coast …More
This is a small, basic hotel - but the room turned out to be good stop-gap for a night, and was clean and comfortable and I got a really warm welcome - they are lovely people!
Don't come here expecting luxury - given the price, this would be unreasonable. Do consider this if you want to be slightly set back from the main road, but close to shops, restaurants, and the ferry and taxi rank, and are looking for good budget accommodation.
The Elena is situated in the centre of town allowing easy access to ferries, train station, many eating place, shops and activities. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was plentiful and varied. Our room was spacious with room for cases. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The Hotel Milan Speranza Au Lac in Stresa was in a great location. We came by bus from the airport in Milan and the bus stops right in front of the hotel. The hotel is across the street from the Ferry Station and of course the beautiful lake. Behind the hotel is the cute old town center of Stresa. Lots of shops, restaurants and fun just wandering around. It's an older hotel but in excellent condition. It has a very nice breakfast room and the food was good also. It had a good assortment of breakfast items. The staff at the hotel was very nice and also helpful. We had a balcony, not necessarily with a view, but it was nice to have the balcony. I had paid for the room on Expedia when I booked it. I hoped all would go well with that and I will say that it worked out perfectly. The info indicated that I'd have to pay a city room tax with cash and we did in all the Italy hotels, but it was explained and expected. All in all, the stay at the Hotel Milan Speranza was an excellent experience. Would recommend this hotel.
Stresa Friday Market a must for 1.time visitors.
Restaurants from touristy to excellent.
Our 2 nights in a row return to the Restaurant " Piemontese "for dinner speaks for itself, dinner excellent, wine recommendation nicely guided, service top notch, and the ambience charming especially in the Patio part.. The fratelli i.e Brothers Bellossi owned and run Restaurant is a true gem..
For the fish lovers amongst us the " Il Clandestino" somewhat more pricey, but definitely worth it. Try the suggestions by the chef and pair each course with the appropriate wine, selected by staff. A truely unique experience and my guess this place is a contender for a Guide Michelin star.
Slightly difficult to find... but when we did we found a beautiful house, had a lovely welcome and wonderful room/suite overlooking the lake (allbeit a little distance away). The room was full of character and the bathroom was lovely though the low ceilings were 'entertaining' for my 6 foot 2" husband! but it really didn't matter. We had a lovely 1 night stay, drove into Stressa and enjoyed our evening. Would definitely recommend and would love to go back, MANY THANKS to the helpful man (Sorry unable to remember his name)who looked after the house for the owner - he was very friendly and helpful about places to visit etc. Thank you for a lovely stay. Breakfast was very nice too!
