Spotlessly clean. Well maintained . Good facilities. Beach 10 mins away. Transport provided if needed but taxi only 7 euros. Only hiccup is shower....... Very weak but that is only to emphasize overall how good this place is . Would happily return.
We booked into the Four Season's as we usually stay in the Hilton close by in Vilamoura but knew of the Four Seasons and wanted to try it. Being a Four Season's we expected a high standard but the hotel was disappointing, very dated and understaffed. The rooms were large and nice but just in real need of updating and our bathroom really smelt which was so unpleasant. Some staff were nice but many were very short and rude and just not enough staff. Only one lifeguard for three pools (impossible to see all areas and they had lots of kids in so quite unsafe) and a nice little pool bar but it just opened infrequently and one morning one staff member joked it should be open but no one had arrived to work there that day. All in all it could be so much better, the Four Season's I'm surprised has not made improvements.
With beautiful pools, a well equipped gym, various restaurants/bars, amazing spa and golf driving range and course just across the road, the hotel is perfect for relaxing in or for using as a base to discover the surrounding area. Rooms very well appointed and general relaxed feel about the resort. We had a room facing the residential area which was lovely and quiet. The Hilton beach area was also very relaxed. Overall, really lovely experience.
Pestana Vila Sol is truly amazing. At first I assumed it was a hotel primarily for golfers but thats not the case. Pestana caters to a whole range of guests. First and foremost the hotel staff are brilliant, they are constantly smiling and on hand to deal with any query you may have. The entire resort is beautiful and set out for easy navigation. There are different parts to the resort where each part provides you with a different experience/feeling. I personally stayed in a Villa and had an amazing time. There is a indoor swimming pool with a Jacuzzi, a huge main pool with a swim-up bar and then a kiddies pool. The resort itself offers food and drinks and theres also the clubhouse which is 1-2 minutes away which offers mouthwatering food which you can eat whilst overlooking the golf courses.
Arrived home last night after a weeks stay at the Dom Jose Hotel, facilities and location were very good although the rooms could do with having a fridge to keep the water cold and tea/coffee making amenities. All staff throughout the week were extremely helpful and polite except for the receptionist who was working Friday afternoon/evening. having had a discussion with the receptionist in the morning regarding on-line check in, she advised if i needed any help to ask at reception who would be more than happy to assist. This was not the case, i had a problem logging in to the hotel computer when i asked for help i was told that i was logged in else where which wasn't the case, after logging on i needed to know how to enter the @ symbol which is different on their key board to ours, i went back to reception where the girl was talking to the lifeguards when she saw me approaching she muttered something under her breath which made both lifeguards turn around and look at me, she then smiled sweetly and asked sarcastically how she could help, i was then told she would be there in a moment which when being timed for internet use is worrying that you will be timed out. Following completion of emailing our boarding passes to the hotel we waited until a different person was on reception before asking for them to be printed, What a difference she made as she was polite and helpful. This experience didn't spoil my holiday but will prevent me from staying at this hotel again
Lovely area and pool good staff very friendly rooms ok could do with update and good clean under beds etc breakfast good needs tea coffee making facilities in room this spoilt the room of a four star hotel
A modern resort created in the 1970s, Vilamoura is famous for its marina and several championship golf courses. What it lacks in local character it makes up for in facilities as one of Europe’s largest leisure complexes, including most water sports. By night the marina is the lively hub with bars and eateries for all budgets, plus a casino and nightclubs. The adjacent beach of Praia da Falésia is recommended.
