“Good choice for a short trip”

Went on a Europe city trip and decided to break up our journey from Munich to Prague with a day in Vienna. This hotel was the perfect location, close to the Praterstern train station, and in a not so fancy neighborhood as to not blow our budget. With only limited expectations I was more than surprised about the size of the room, effectively a good-sized studio apartment (the hotel seemed to be a converted residential property). If you're in Vienna for a short or budget trip, or if you don't mind a little walk to the city center, this one should be on your short list.

“Excellent Hotel.”

This is a great Hotel for visiting Vienna. Its location (1 minute from the underground) is ideal and the 1,2 or 3 day transport passes on offer at the hotel are very good value. The staff were very good and at a time when Hotels move more and more to bed only so they can charge for breakfast (usually at rip off prices) it was most refreshing to get an excellent breakfast as part of the deal.

When to go

Xmas is a bonus time with all the markets around the city and it is nice to enjoy local dishes and the great punch on offer.

“Nice basic hotel”

The hotel is modern, clean and conveniently located. The bar area is part of the receiption so not a place to go if you enjoy relaxing in the hotel bar. For what we wanted it was ideal

“A pleasant surprise”

We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to an executive room. The room was very spacious, comfortable and attractive. A lift to the metro station was directly in front of the hotel which made travelling very easy.

“Exceeded already-high expectations!”

The reviews of Hotel Capri were good, but I thought, when booking, 'good for the price' and 'good for 3-star' - in fact it was good for almost any price, and superb for 3-star. We had a 'deluxe' room so I can't speak for the other rooms, but it was beautifully decorated and furnished - modern, simple, colourful, comfortable - and the bathroom (with bath & excellent shower) was quite large and sparklingly clean. The breakfast buffet has every conceivable item for a Continental breakfast, including, miraculously, soft-boiled eggs. Reception has a small bar, a computer (wifi in rooms is paid-for) & very helpful, friendly staff. There are useful shops & very good Austrian restaurants nearby. The hotel is only 15 minutes from Stephansdom, and a few seconds from the lift to a tube line. It doesn't have 'Old Vienna' atmosphere, but it had everything we could possibly need - if we go back to Vienna we wouldn't even think of anywhere else.

Area recommendations

Praterstrasse has good Austrian restaurants; a walk round the Innerstadt has lots of coffee houses and historic buildings. A tram ride or walk round the Ring has very grand buildings. The Museums Quarter for art galleries. Schönbrunn for a splendid palace.

“Great value”

Great hotel for the money - my superior room was clean, light and spacious, and the breakfast buffet is of a high standard. Also, the hotel is very conveniently located for the convention centre (the Austria Centre Vienna) - it's just 4 stops on the U-bahn from Nestroyplatz station, which is directly outside the hotel. This means that the Capri is closer than most of the major hotel chains.

“Great Location. East to get to anyplace!”

Had a wonderful stay at Hotel Capri. The location is very central and with the Metro right outside the door you can get to anyplace in Wien in minutes. The secure parking was a must for us and we just left our car in the hotel lot for the whole time we were there. The internet connection was a bit expensive so I went without for a few days.

“Wonderful (but hot)”

As noted above - the rooms are not air conditioned, and the windows barely open, which made it extremely HOT during my mid-July visit. I asked for a room fan, and although they did not have one available right away, they put one in my room on my 2nd or 3rd day there. Otherwise, this is a great place to stay. Wonderful location, extremely helpful staff, nice rooms, INCREDIBLE breakfast buffet, very nearby several restaurants. Nice place to stay if you are attending a conference at Reed Messe Wien, as it is only two metro stops away.
