“Good standard hotel.”

Clean, friendly hotel. Good breakfast and plenty of it. Not too far to walk to the centre of town but in any case there is a metro station just around the corner so you can be anywhere in Vienna in minutes.

Area recommendations
All of the Inner Stadt and Schonbrun Palace.

“Nothing Special but Good Value”

We have stayed twice. Last year we got the requested quiet room , this year we didn't. The breakfast is OK but now wow. The room was good but the bathroom too small. The reccception is good. The location is perfect. Twenty minute walk to St Stefan's or tram or tube both at the end of the road. Nice district.

Area recommendations
Alsergrund as the place to stay. Quiet feels safe and village-y
Must see
If you like art and you have seen the main features - Don't miss the Lichtenstein Palace exhibition.

“A very pleasant stay in a nice hotel”

We were pleased with our stay at the Deutschmeister hotel, its location was convenient for both tram and underground. Our sixth floor room was comfortable and as it faced an inner courtyard was very quiet. We enjoyed our continental breakfast which was more than adequate for our needs. All the staff were helpful which made for a pleasant stay.

Area recommendations
The area within the Ringstrasse is full of magnificent buildings, art galleries and museums.
Getting around
The centre of Vienna proved to be very accessible using public transport, and we found the Vienna Card was very good value for money.

“Great Hotel in Art Heaven”

This hotel rates as one of the best I have been in either for work or pleasure. So let's break that down a little. First, the location is excellent. Far enough from the main tourist spots to offer good value but close enough to walk to those spots (20 -30 mins) and also convenient to an underground (1 minute walk). It is quiet yet has good value restaurants, cafes and a supermarket or two nearby. The staff were excellent and the breakfast buffet perfect (we could forego lunch). A shared computer was available for a small fee (2.8E). Room was spacious, very clean, with all facilities you would expect. Now to the City. We went to see art and oh what art you get. The kunsthistorisches, Leopold and Belvedere museums are the pick but the Liechtenstein, and Albertina are worth visiting too. There are also many places showing temporary exhibitions and I would advise checking out what's on before deciding to go (MUMOK, Bank Austria Kunstforum, Kunst Haus Wien). Actually go to Kunst Haus Wien anyway - the permanent Hundertwasser collection is well worth it. All galleries cost (average 9 Euro each) and there is a Vienna card offering travel concession and discount gallery entry (about 10%) . If you spend a day in a big gallery like we do then the card is NOT worth it.

Getting there
At the airport all the advertising tries to get you to use the CAT train into the centre. According to the advertising this takes 16 minutes (to Wien Mitte) and costs 10 Euro (single, no returns). Unless you are in a serious rush this is not worth it. Use the S-Bahn (S7) which takes about 25 minutes to get to Wien Mitte and costs 3.6 Euro (single, no return). Oh By the way, the ticket machines at undergrounds, S Bahns are great - english language option, easy to understand and accepting coins (but not 1, 2 or 5 cents) and notes. Tickets need stamping before travel and my only problem was I could not work out how long they lasted for! Tickets are valid on trams as well but again I couldn't quite work out how long they lasted for even though i was using them

“A good hotel for business or tourism”

My 1st floor room faced onto the inner courtyard.. very peaceful, no noise whatever from inside or outside. Good clean comfortable room and bathroom . Fast wifi available extra cost (reasonable). TV had eight channels, but only four working (local TV only). Large breakfast room, with good continental breakfast buffet. I would certainly use it again.
