We had a twin room in a corner of the building on the 5th floor. Our room had windows on two sides, one of which looked straight out onto the cathedral and the main square. Our room was stylish, modern and comfortable. Double (or perhaps triple) glazed windows kept the noise out. The hotel is situated right in the centre of Vienna, and is close to all major attractions in town.
Where to start? This was our second visit to Vienna and after staying across the road in the Intercontinental the last time, it was always going to be different. But it was no disappointment the room was large, large enough for 3 or 4 if needed. The suite windows faced into the inner courtyard but I didn’t go to Vienna to sit in a room looking out the window we were off around the place.
Close to the Stadtpark and the Subway services you can get anywhere across the city in a few stops. Safe cheap and quick. Most of the guides overlook this service which is a great way to get around.
Room was clean and tidy, good size shower and wash area and the bedroom great too. The big lounge area in room really made it for us, not sitting on a bed when you’r in a hotel is a great nice to have, especially not no extra cost.
For those on a budget with children a good base you can even order Pizza or rood into your suite if you wanted. Great fun.
I just had cheap stays in London, Paris, Zurich, Vienna & Rome. Opera Suites was the best; the right balance of price, condition friendly staff & location worked for me. After a late finish watching the ballet in the Vienna opera house, it was great to only have to cross the road to be home for the night.
Arrived very early and we were upgraded so very pleased. The room was quite large and very nice, overlooking the main Strasse. It was very quiet so no problem with any noise. My only criticism of the room would be the very poor quality pillows. These were so flat you felt like you were sleeping on the mattress.
The turn down service was sometimes a bit hit and miss, wanting to turn your room down around 6.00 pm which is way too early when you're getting ready to go out. Be aware also that the "do not disturb" sign doesn't turn off with the Master switch, so we lost out on another occasion to have the room serviced. That was our mistake and the room hadn't been cleaned whilst we were out all day, so be aware of the "Do Not Disturb" sign.
We dined in Le Ceil and it was faultless. Could not recommend it hughly enough. The Wine List isn't cheap so be prepared.
Overall the hotel is wonderful, the staff attentive and friendly and the facilities great. Would have no hesitation in recommending.
