“Small room with basic amenities in an excellent and clean location”

This hotel is very central to all of the main tourist attractions which can be accessed either on foot or very conveniently by the underground tube system. The hotel is particularly good for those wanting to shop, see the christmas markets and be close to the museums and galleries. Make sure you go to the Central Cafe. There is also a small and authentic Viennese coffee house, near Stephensplatz - approximately 3 streets before the church on the right hand side approaching the cathedral. Be prepared to be harranged by Mozart lookalikes, selling tickets for the opera. The hotel itself is very clean and the beds comfortable - the room is typically small, which is not unusual in Europe. The bathroom is a little undersized given that it is for two people. The hotel is a 4 star but you have to ask for tea and coffee facilities, which the management is happy to supply you with. Breakfast is reasonable - mainly a continental fair with a few hot options.

“Loved the place, perfect choice.”

I booked a weekend away for my boyfriend and wanted a hotel that was local to visit all the sites of Vienna. This place was ideal it was local and also just off the main road so it was lovely and quiet to! the hotel was really clean and the room had a separate bath room and toilet which was nice. The staff were lovely and were really helpful and friendly. The breakfast staff were brilliant and went out of there way to make sure we had everything we needed. If i ever went back i would go to this hotel and definatly recommend to a friend.

Area recommendations

city centre is the best you can take the tube any where or walk!

Getting around

you can walk about as this is the best way to see the city, but the tube is also great to get around.

What to pack

we went in October and it was cold so i would take a nice warm jacket, scarf, gloves. really good walking shoes to get around in.

Must see

you must check out the tube which is a train ride away, we did this and it took us 15 min door to door was great. This is a must the animals are amazing! we took lots of pick and for 2 people cost us 28 euros. If you feel like you have seen all of Vienna like we had this was a great day out. It can take you 3/4 hours to see things quickly, but you do need a full day.

“A nice good small hotel”

The hotel is situated in a very good location, the staff were very kind and helpful, This hotel has like only 40 rooms and therefore is very quiet like his location, I'd recommend this hotel coming to vienna.

“Almost great”

The things that kept this from being great were: - the airconditioning system had a mind of its own - no matter what we set it on it re-set itself to 24 degrees which made the room too hot and stuffy for sleeping - the pillows looked good but went completely flat when laid on and wouldn't hold any shape. Small things to fix but left me very tired at the end of our stay. Other than that, the hotel is in a good location. For us, it was close to the Spanish Riding school and a nice walk through the old town to Stephens Cathedral. The breakfast was fabulous and catered for all requirements with cooked English breakfast and full Continental breakfast also. The service at breakfast was excellent

Area recommendations

The only issue with the area where Das Tigra is was finishing a half day tour at the Opera House and not being able to find a taxi who would take us to our hotel. Our bags had not yet arrived and we had no coats and no idea how to get to the hotel. We had a small map of the area between our hotel and the Spanish Riding Scool but we were outside the map area. We still don't know why the taxis refused to take us and the hotel staff said they had not heard of that before.

Must see

The Spanish Riding School is a must-see - whether horses are your thing or not. The performance is wonderful. The other tour that we really enjoyed was the Vienna Tour with Boat Cruise. The tour took us to the Vienna Woods and the views are fabulous. The boat cruise was an interesting experience for us going down through the lock to the city canal.

“Good location”

Good location, short walk to Cathedral, The Hofburg and metro. The street that hotel is situated in is not the best. Hotel clean, friendly staff and good breakfast. Reasonable price.

“Not a four star hotel”

In comparison with other 4* hotels this hotel did not deserve its rating. The bathroom was not cleaned, the bins not emptied, the towels were thin and grey rather than white. The bed linen was not changed. I asked for a face towel and was given a thin grey, badly marked piece of cloth. There were not enough towels for the room. On the last day, for the first time ever, I complained to the hotel as I felt it was unfair to other far superior 3* hotels. I was told the laundry had spoilt their towels and they were having to employ temporary cleaning staff. I received an apology from the manager, but I believe that visitors should be able to confidently depend on the given star rating.
